Great little resteraunt with a cute Italian feel and atmosphere. The food and timing however were unimpressive. Ordered the spaghetti with an extra meatball, and my girlfriend ordered the ravioli. We went there casually and were just exploring the resteraunt in the area. The pesto and pepperoni and garlic bread slices it came with was good, although not warm at all. Got the salad with our orders (standard quality), but I had a long black hair embedded in mine. 😒
The marinara sauce that came with both looked bad (a solid bright vivid red sauce), but I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Tasting it quickly changed my optimism. It tastes like chef boyardi sauce (not a compliment) and was most certainly from a can. The meatballs we pretty good, but lacking in any distinct flavor. Just a dull tasting meat. My girlfriend's ravioli looked and tasted like it was from a cheap can, and after 2 she was unimpressed (she let me finish it, and I agreed with her). We were originally excited about this place but actually eating the food quickly changed our minds. I think she described it well in saying that "this is the meal that you make in a college dorm room". If you like actual authentic tasting Italian do not come here. You'll find other reviews that read the same.
An annoying thing that I don't necessarily blame the resteraunt for is the menu on Google is 1) inaccurate to actual menu options and 2) lists everything as $4 cheaper than actually there. Maybe it's their lunch special menu? Expecting to pay around $20 and actually spending $32 isn't pleasant.
For the timing: 15 min from being seated to asking if we were ready to order (odd because we were only 2 of 10 people there). From ordering it took another 15min for our breadbasket to arrive (good bread). When we finished that and asked for another the waitress seemed reluctant. 10min later we got another breadbasket, and another 5-10 after that we got the food. Ate for about 20-25 min, and when we finished eating it was almost 10 min before she asked us if we wanted the check. Takes a couple more min to get the check, and then takes almost 10 min to collect payment. If you pay with a card, they bring a card reader to you, and it prompts you for a tip. Of course the lowest option is the standard 15%, and I didn't feel comfortable typing in a custom percent with her standing over my shoulder. When that whole ordeal was done we had been in the resteraunt over an hour and a half.
Not likely...
Read morethe food is great, but we went here on 8/31/17 and the staff help was awful. i have been here quite a few times and this time i personally thought the staff was rude and service unacceptable. first when we entered there was a party in front of us, it took awhile but they were seat, however the guy ahead of us did a takeout order and there were 2 open booths, took about 10 minutes for us to be seated (that part is fine). the real problem was we ordered a pizza with a basket of bread and cheese sticks, all amazing but our water was empty and the wait staff didnt acknowlesge our table for the entire half hour, they didnt ask us how the food was, not one person even acknowledged us, more like ignored us, when we finally asked if we could get our water refilled, the lady said sure and again ignored while helping other tables (seriously what the hell) , we werent rude at all and very polite. even when i said out loud "excuse me...........water please" both ladies turned away from us. to me this is rude and unacceptable.
I am a new brighton resident and have been one my whole life, while that may not hold weight, i just think i expected a bit more considering this is a place i like to treat myself and my girlfriend. I never expected such rude behavior from the wait staff. honestly, i may not go back or i might, who knows but that was really lame. i just hope no one else gets that treatment. i didnt tip for that dinner either and i am justified and i do tip well when it serves it, this service didnt call for one, it was that bad. wheeeeew : [
i really hope the owner takes this seriously because this is a good place even though my treatment was downright...
Read moreYes, once again, we get lucky, some of the better food in town. We were returning from our cousin's cabin, and our toddler wanted noodles and chicken and we decided to look for the best Italian in and around our route home with an emphasis on being closer to home if possible. This place came up, and we decided to check it's menu right off of Google Maps. They had a pretty strong selection of pastas, and we found two that sounded interesting and not standard generic, called them and ordered them to go with a basket of bread. There was on the call that we discovered soup or salad are included with each pasta dish. So we took one of each chicken tortellini alfredo was the soup. I do believe it was homemade, as opposed to from a bag or from Cisco. Both pasta dishes were excellently portioned, (read Large) the basket of bread was a variety of slices of homemade Italian dinner Breads and Specialty breads, a very pleasant surprise. When we got there was a little hard because it really is a crack in the brick-and-mortar of a shotgun strip-mall sets Sideways from the street. That street being Silver Lake Road. That said it's worth finding, the place is cozy intimate authentic not too fancy decorated mostly by bottles of wine which can be immediately drank. The food may not be the best Italian in town but it is competitive with the best intalian in town, at a far better price much closer to our house and more likely to see our business again. I would have given it four stars if it was fancier or bigger. It's intimate size adds value, to the potential romantic and or intimate dinner party style experience that is so hard to find in larger more modern built...
