La Frontera Caribeña Restaurant — Restaurant in New Brunswick

Ever since leaving Brooklyn, I've been looking for a place to try the best Arepas I was really excited and hope about this restaurant after reading all the rave reviews Now, first off, only one staff member spoke English and unfortunately I don't speak Spanish, so right off the get go it was a little challenging I asked what kind of arepas do you have and she said "lots" and then named off 3 lol - chicken, beef and cheese. So I got all three Now I don't think it's fair for Me to compare an arepa I had 5 years ago to today's arepa, but if I were to do that I would say this was unfortunately a little underwhelming I had hoped for more sauce, more flavor in general They were really busy filling a huge catering order it seemed, so I had to wait 35mins for my food.

Overall the portions are very generous and the ladies running it seem really nice. I would definitely come back here and try it to stay and maybe ask for some sauce but I would not order...

First and last. Not knocking the place down - because to each, their own! But I would never go back. Ordered a salchipapa for my daughter since it's her favorite, and she hated it. They put some type of sliced cheese to "melt" on top, and the fries were drenched in garlic sauce, and no mayo ketchup came with it either. A grilled chicken sandwich was ordered, and it was horribly done. Super messy. Too much garlic sauce on it, bread was soaked in oil and garlic, which made it impossible to even attempt to finish. Ordered 8 empanadas, 4beef 4chicken and was given 8 chicken ones that were horrible. It tasted as if the chicken was seasoned in lipton soup seasonings!! Horrible!! the only great things were the 3 bottled drinks purchased and the portion of rice on the side for my empanadas I...

I traveled all the way from Virginia and I don't regret it at all going to La Frontera. The food is amazing, I tried some of the Venezuelan food they have and all I wanted to do was eat more. I have been to places here in Virginia and New Jersey to eat Colombian food since I'm Colombian and I'm telling you this place is just everything I wanted.The owner is very friendly with everyone and the workers too.
