If I didn't drive 48 minutes to check this place out, I would've walked out immediately after walking in because the smell was thick and foul. I couldn't say what the smell even was but it was enough to make you think twice. The entire restaurant was filthy, both new and old debris and stains on just about every surface you can see. I didn't even want to sit down anywhere because of how off-putting the environment was. You can tell this place just hadn't been swept or mopped in days. I saw a few glimpses of the 'kitchen' where the food was being prepared as the door swung open and closed and it was perhaps even more dirty.
While I was waiting to be attended and as well as after being attended, I witnessed almost every customer being treated rudely by the staff. One young woman mentioned that she had ordered takeout over 35 minutes ago and the female employee attending her became so irate and nasty with her in response. She misheard her saying that she would like to pay and the immediate defensive response of the employee was something like "oh...I can cancel the order, you don't have to take it" At no point did she say something simple like 'sorry for the wait we're really busy' instead she was just immediately met with contempt. The customer simply stated again that she would like to pay. She sent out a different girl to finish ringing her up and bring her food because she was apparently too angry to finish, all the while you hear shouting behind the kitchen door which is only a few feet away from the register.
I watched another young woman try to ask questions about a menu item and she was treated with such disrespect as if she was stupid for not knowing what each menu item is. I find this to be especially unreasonable because there is no description on the menu, simply names with pictures randomly placed around them, there is no way to know the specifics of any particular item, so naturally people are going to ask questions.
Another door dash driver walks in after this and gets screamed at for I don't even know what I wasn't paying attention anymore because the whole situation was really awkward...every single customer that walked in there was abused unless they ordered said nothing and left.
I ordered a mangonada, the most basic standard fare item you could get from a place like this. If it was executed really well, it would've been a 2/5 at best, but it was not executed well.
Why?
Nothing about it was special. The 'smoothie' portion did not seem homemade, it tasted like extra sugary out of a jar/can product. The 'fresh' fruit was warmer than room temperature - I don't even know how that possible. The ratio of fruit to sugar 'smoothie' was also very stingy. Everyone knows the fruit is the expensive part, we know why you're stingy with it. There was no layering of ingredients, no fruit in the middle or on the bottom, no sauce in the middle or on the bottom.
You could say this is a matter of choice or preference...but the fact remains that this is the lowest cost and lowest effort possible way to make it and still call it a mangonada. Really the only thing you could do wrong was give warm fruit and a loose smoothie...which is exactly how it was. The lack of quality in the product coupled with the filth and stench of the restaurant was enough that I didn't even want to finish it. After eating a few pieces of warm mango I had to throw it away.
I was really disappointed that I drove to a place that has a 4.6 star (at the time of this review and visit) average but after visiting I realized why. They give out a FREE CHURRO for good reviews, which is actually a violation of googles terms of service. I don't care to report you but no one is going to be visiting this place more than once unless things change. Even if the mangonada was top-tier the way that the customers are being treated was enough to make me not want to go back.
Owner: Instead of blasting your reviewers, be present at your establishment and see what's really going on. People don't make stuff up just to harm random...
Read moreThis place has gone downhill BAD since last summer. The quality and experience today was TERRIBLE. First, they said only 1 sample per person. What ice cream place does that?? Second, the taller girl at the counter was so rude and condescending the entire time. She said we can’t pay extra money for wanting an extra churro? Next, we waited 25 mins for 2 churros and ice cream. We don’t mind to wait if the quality is good! But the quality was sooo bad. The size of each scoop was the size of 1 spoon. I showed it them and they said we do what the owners tell us to do and use the scooper the owners give us. Okay, I paid $10 for 2 churros, 3 spoon fulls of ice cream and a bunch of whipped cream to hide how small it was. Instead of just adding on some extra ice cream or remaking it I had to argue with them. In the end they didn’t remake it.
They also told me they’ve been here since last summer. Where is the younger, shorter, little fuller, girl who was there ?! She was AMAZING. She had great customer service skills, was knowledgeable and knew how to scoop ice cream the correct way. This business needs to hire her back and pay her extra and fire the girls who are there now. I’ve seen other people complain in the comments so I know it’s not just me. I live across the street but won’t be back if I see these 2 girls there...
Read morevisit 06/05/22 the churros were really good and the fruit too but the service horrible maybe because me and my family were not of hispanic decent. It was two girl in the front one with the grey shirt is very very very rude it was my first time coming and she was very slick with everything i said. When i first walked in i said hello no response. I said it again very prominently then she responded. From then it was horrible. I had a hard time ordering because i did not know the menu and instead of listing the different options and topping she’s kept repeating which one would i like. It’s sad you can’t even try new things without people discriminating you for no reason at all. Also my sister did her own order, and spelled out her name for the order. We were sitting down waiting and they called out a completely different name. I understand things happen but the two cashiers saw us sitting their and could’ve atleast said hello this is your order, given tht they JUST took it so they know it was ours. I mean how are we supposed to respond to the wrong name being called?…all i’m saying is don’t discriminate at the end of the day you wouldn’t be a business without customers , treat them how you want...
