First and foremost, this restaurant is 100% Vegan, so go here knowing that, and don't embarrass yourself walking in, sitting down, looking at the menu, and walking out.
This will be one of my longer reviews so stick with me on this. If you notice my reviews, my wife and I enjoy trying new places and new food. My wife is vegan I am working towards vegan but I am a pescatarian (only eat fish), We decided to take a trip (about 2.5 hours) to New Hope and visit this restaurant. Our reservation was at 5:00, and we were seated immediately and greeted promptly by our server. Throughout our visit, she was fantastic, attentive, friendly, and helpful.
Now to the food...OMG, the food! (I've attached the menu). Also, my wife and I actually had stopped about 2.5 hours earlier and had a snack so I didn't feel overly hungry Drink - I got the Watermelon Aqua Fresca. It wasn't some watermelon juice thrown in a glass with some water and sugar. This was a refreshing straight watermelon juice with a touch of Agave for sweetness..refreshing, cold, and perfect. (If you like watermelon). Next - We got the following small plates: Brown Sugar Seitan BBQ Wings - the sauce on these was sweet, tangy, sticky, and one of the best I have ever had. In my ugh-meat-eating days, I was a wing fanatic. These vegan wings blew most of them away. They were crispy and reminded me of the best boneless wings ever! Asparagus A LA Plancha - Literally I picked one up to take a bite and stopped right before I put it in my mouth. The aroma was incredible. You could literally smell the roast on it. And then I tasted it with the sauce. I couldn't stop eating them. Again some of the best Asparagus I ever had (and I've had some amazing Asparagus, see my review on Oak). Green Onion Pancake Roll - I really enjoyed these. The filling was great and they were a great small plate.
Remember, we had eaten only a few hours earlier, but after these small plates we decided to try the Risotto Verde. My first bite, again, I literally stopped and just looked at my wife, speechless. (yet again, I have some amazing Risotto). The flavors in this Risotto came through so clearly in every bite. I'm not a radish fan but I loved the seared radish. I honestly couldn't believe how good it was. We ate it all. (Almost picked the bowl up and licked it).
Dessert: My wife got the trio of ice cream. Cantaloupe Mint, Vanilla Bean, Peppermint Cacao. I'm going to be honest, I was not a fan of the Cantaloupe Mint but my wife loved it. It was refreshing but just not for me (although I do love Cantaloupe). The Vanilla Bean was amazing, I could definitely tell it was made with Coconut milk but it had a fantastic creamy vanilla flavor. And, unfortunately, my least favorite flavor of anything is Mint Chocolate...so I wasn't a fan of the Peppermint Cacao, but honestly, it wasn't that bad. But if you like mint chocolate, you will love it.
Now for me!! I ordered the Chocolate Blackout Cake. Let me be 100% clear on this...it was life-changing! I am a chocolate lover. When I say that I don't mean I go to Hershey and buy some chocolate. I know my chocolate! This quite literally brought tears to my eyes (literally). I don't know why or how. I have never eaten cake like this. The chocolate mouse was creamy but with somewhat of a darker intense chocolate flavor, and the cake, although it looked very dark it was moist and somewhat delicate but somehow dense at the same time. And, on top of that, they added coconut anglaise which when eaten with the cake and mouse took this beyond any dessert I have ever eaten. This is absolutely a must if you like chocolate, or even if you don't, you MUST try it!!!
So, thank you to the chef, and the staff at Sprig & Vine for one of the most amazing food experiences I...
Read moreMy sister's significant other made reservations two weeks in advance for a party of 16. Despite being advised of it being a birthday celebration, they refused to allow us to bring a vegan birthday cake with us and said that they would make an "exception" for us but charge us $4 a plate to SERVE THE CAKE THAT WE BROUGHT, despite all of us purchasing entrees. Ignoring the fact that this adds up to quite a bit extra for a party of about 16 people, it's just plain unconscionable no matter what. Outside of this particular aspect of our visit, we got off to a terrible start when it took a good 15 minutes for the hostess to acknowledge us upon arrival. When we were finally seated, our party was separated into two tables. After asking both the waitress and the hostess if it was possible to put our reserved party together, some of our guests were afraid to impose and be treated any worse so we remained two separate, distanced tables. Then there was the wait. Other guests who arrived after us ate their food and left LONG before we got to taste our meals. At least two of the five entrees offered contained mushrooms. I requested one of them without mushrooms and was told that it was premade (hello, not made fresh yet at the price an omnivore would pay for prime rib) and could not have it without. When our food came out, mine was served to my friend who didn't realize the mistake and began eating it. None of the meals were distinguishable, so it was not an easy mistake for a diner to spot. My niece ordered the jasmine rice cakes, which tasted good upon first bite but were a total culinary faux-pas to be spotted by even the most inexperienced of chefs because the texture was SO soggy and mushy and there was nothing to counterbalance it. In summary - we have eaten at this place several times. Each time the food gets worse, and the service always kind of sucked but this time it really took the cake - literally. The only thing that I enjoyed was the company (at least those who got to sit at the head table) and the...
Read moreBy far one of my favorite vegan restaurants in America! That’s right! You read that right, in America! Every single time I have dined in or taken out the food has been excellent! Flavorful, not overly salty, not mushy, excellent! The textures are on point! Tonight was my 11th time in this past year, 2023. Tonight I took my father, (who is almost 83 and does NOT like veggies). He said he wanted to experience the place I always dine at in New Hope, PA. My parents live in Princeton, NJ and I just moved back with them from NYC. I have a severe milk and tree nut allergy. I do not need to worry about the milk allergy since it’s vegan. My nut allergy is what I have to worry about with vegan food. I have never had a problem at Sprig & Vine. They take great care with avoiding my nut allergens! I am not allergic to coconut, almond, pine nut or peanut. Tonight I ordered a few new menu items, including the new Corn fritter cakes with Ramps and black bean hummus- outstanding! Sized more like an appetizer and you will not want to share! My father ordered the carrot dog! He has to watch his salt so they adjusted the prep so it was half the sodium. So wonderful! Thank you! My dad said it was so interesting to experience a “hot carrot dog” he said it was very similar! Also the lavender -lemonade is awesome sauce!
I ordered the chocolate-tahini coconut ice cream to go. Let me tell you, I have had vegan ice cream from many different companies, I have made my own, I have had all different commercial vegan ice creams. THIS! I can’t even stress it enough was the BEST vegan coconut ice cream I have ever had! The flavor HOLY NO-COW!!! Insanity! I want to buy the recipe and go into business helping whatever Chef developed this recipe -help them out it in the stores and I will be their best customer! Please please please do not take this off the special menu! It was to die for! I am half Lebanese and it totally reminded me of Chocolate Halva- but frozen, creamer and better! Absurdly delicious! Thank you for another...
