This Friday was my first time at this establishment, and definitely my last!
After arriving at the establishment, I went up to the bar to order a drink. When I was asked what I wanted to drink, I responded "Can I get a bourbon on the rocks, just nothing bottom shelf please." I was served my drink, and was asked if I would like to open up a tab (which I did).
About 30 minutes later I went back up to the bar to order a second drink. They refused to serve me staying I was cut-off. When I asked why, their response was "You're cut-off because you're clearly already intoxicated because you didn't even know what you wanted to drink the first time you ordered." Keep in mind, when I first ordered, I asked specifically for bourbon, just not bottom shelf bourbon. Apparently, in their eyes, not specifying the exact brand name of bourbon desired constitutes intoxication. Rather than contesting that illogical decision making on their end, I politely asked to close out my tab (which I don't even know why I was asked to open a tab in the first place, if they planned on not serving me another drink), and resumed socializing with my friends.
Having been cut-off after one drink was not even what warranted the one star rating.
About 20 minutes later, I asked for a glass of water.
This is the point where my evening was absolutely ruined.
The bartender rudely responded to my water request saying "I'm not giving you water. Why would I give you anything when you didn't even tip me earlier?"
Wow! I'm 38 years old and I've gotta say, that's one of the most childish, rude, and unprofessional things I I've seen/heard in the service industry yet. I don't tip on my credit/debit cards, nor do I tip after every drink. Before leaving, I usually tip one larger cash amount based on overall service throughout the entire...
Read moreWe went to the White horse Saturday August 24 about 5:30. There were many empty tables, but no hostess to seat us. The bar was also very empty so we decided to sit there. The youngish guy bartender got both of our drink orders wrong and did not even know what a spiked watermelon was (a drink we have all the time there). At that point we realized the bartender was distracted by his friend sitting at the bar. It was very apparent they were doing their fantasy football selections. This man was yelling players names across the bar to the bartender as he was trying to take our food order.m and everyone else's orders too. Our appetizer order came out with the wrong dipping sauce. The bartender and his friend continued to do their football selections. We had to flag him down to order more drinks and our dinner. When he took our dinner order, he wrote nothing down and then went to his friend to talk about their football selections., After a5 minutes he then entered our order into the computer. At that point, I bet my husband that our order would be wrong. I won that bet!! My salad was forgotten, nothing we ordered came out with the right dressing or dipping sauces, and the appetizer size shrimp my husband ordered did not come out with the rest of his dinner. Not sure what happened To all of the good bartenders they used to have. But this guy was way more interested in his fantasy football team than his customers. His tip reflected the very poor service. And I must say we've never not tipped well at the Whitehorse before this Somethings changed there, the vibe is no longer fun, the place was empty, and they have shitty bartenders... Which is probably why...
Read moreAbominable customer service. For the first time in over two years, my parents agreed to have the kids sleepover so we were kid free and celebrating our anniversary with dinner in the city. When paying the bill, I said instead of drinking in the city and driving far, let’s just go to White Horse and have a drink or two close to home. We walked in and I saw an ex I hadn’t seen in a long time and at the same time saw a close friend I didn’t expect to see so I hugged her and put her in between me and the ex so I could gather myself. Apparently, this was “stumbling.” I went to order a drink and the bartender treated me like trash and refused me. She was so abrasive and rude, I wasn’t even sure I was the one she was talking to. After all, I had just arrived sober and thrilled to be out. Confused, I asked my husband to go instead and when he returned with our drinks, she came after us, took my drink without refund and said if she saw me drink a sip we would be kicked out. I kindly asked what the problem was and why she was treating me like this, her reply was, you stumbled when you walked in, if you try to argue, I’ll kick you out right now. And the manager did nothing about it albeit I was conversing with her sober as a judge and was just hoping to enjoy a cocktail without responsibilities at home. I bartended for 10 years and was mortified to be treated so awfully. This was wrong. Thanks for refusing to treat me like a human being and ruining my...
