If I could I wouldn't even give it 1 star. Lets see where to start, first off the Groupon coupon for them is a joke. You spend $10 on the coupon to get $20. With their spaghetti and meatballs dinner costing $21.95 itself and you have to get two meals its already NOT worth it. Anywhere else Ive ever been chicken Alfredo always costs more than spaghetti.. Not here.. Nope their chicken Alfredo is only $16. Seems odd right?! Only thing I can think is that because of this coupon they inflated their prices as to make sure you still have to pay even after paying for the coupon. Also very clearly on the coupon it states limit 2, again I say 2, per person. We were fought on that fact and were blatantly told "you can't get the food for free" umm I paid for the coupon so therefore its not for free. So basically they're charging outrageous prices to scam the people that are using the coupons thinking they are saving when in all actuality they really are not saving anything at all. And then there is the issue with the service. Complete lack of respect. Talking infront of us in Spanish to each other about the coupon issue instead of speaking English, which they both could very well. Then instead of going to get the manager, she took my boyfriend's $700 phone with her to the back without even asking if it would be okay to do so. Followed by coming back out telling us they are still not going to accept both coupons and then walking away without saying anything else leaving us standing there waiting for her to return so we could finish paying, which she did not do willing, I had to yell to get her attention since she kept her back to us the entire time. And now onto the food itself. For the prices you would expect decent Italian cuisine. NOPE. The spaghetti sauce tastes like chefboyardi, the pasta was under cooked, and the meatballs tasted like they were from the freezer section at a grocery store. The Alfredo sauce tasted like it was out of a jar, the fettuccine was over cooked and stuck together in a glob in the middle of the dish, and the chicken had no flavor at all. The garlic bread was supposed to come with cheese which it did not unless you count the few little flakes of parmesan that where sprinkled on top, and only came with half a loaf... Needless to say, I will never recommend this "restaurant" to anyone ever. And Im going to be contacting Groupon to see if I can get my money back for the second coupon that I was refused to use and will definitely not be returning to use there ever again. Be warned, this place is just the lowest of low. For their prices I could have just gone to olive garden or the casino and had a much better experience. Nothing but a bunch of rude scam artists here and I would recommend going somewhere else. I feel bad for the people that stay in the hotel...
Read moreLoved the hotel. Very clean and friendly staff. Pool was great...but closed early at 8pm. The restaurant wait staff woman was horrible. I came in with 3 young children all under the age of 10. I received 3 vouchers for a prepared meal for the kids because they were under 10 from the hotel(I thought that was awesome) I was greated by a man who sat is was very nice and got a booster seat for the youngest. We sat about 5 minutes...waiting on a menu...the waitress came over and rudly said aren't you going to eat?! I said eat what we haven't seen a menu. She raised her voice a bit and rudely said...the buffet is there in the back ...I said we'll I need to order for the kids as their voucher says a prepared meal not the buffette...may I have a menu please...she again loudly and rudely informed me that someone else (the man who sat us) should have done his job to tell us what we needed to know. I frustrated at this point informed her I would like a menu to order the kids food. Needless to say they has to sit there waiting on there food. She came to check in only once and when I said thank you she never responded. She proceeded to walk over to the man who sat us and loudly exclaim to him how he didn't do his job properly for our table. And smacked him on his behind with a menu. She didn't come back to see if I needed another drink until she brought me the check while we were still eating. My youngest is 2. He repeatedly said hello to her and she ignored him.(that's a shame) when another table was sat the same man who sat us sat them and proceeded to give them water. As he was doing this she said did (I forget his name) tell you the schpeal about the buffeted and ordering...they said yes...and she rudely proceeded to say well he is finally doing his job(NO ONE LAUGHED) I WAS QUITE DISGUSTED by here at this point and just wanted to leave. She rudely dropped the check off while we were clearly still eating breakfast. SHE WAS EXTREMELY RUDE and In the beginning after I asked for a menu three times...she scoffed at me as I told her you know I have never been here before you could have approached the situation a bit differently than how rudely you did. (She seemed quite offended by me telling her this) she continued to tell me well the buffet and menu are just about the same so people usually go there look at the stuff then ask for a menu...again how would I know this? A patron finally gave input and said the buffet was reapply good as he has spent a...
Read moreMy daughter and I decided to use our last pair of The Day's Local Eats New London promotional coupons this evening at La Luna. We were highly disappointed on several counts: The food was marginal, the service was slow and inattentive, and the coupon (not coupons) was reluctantly accepted.
First, the food was basically tasteless: My daughter ordered the salmon entree. The salmon was slightly overcooked, but okay. However it was served with instant mashed potato (I know this 'taste' and consistency) and frozen spinach ... In the middle of the growing season?! I ordered the eggplant rollatini, which was made with a minimal amount of mozzarella (not fresh mozzarella) and served to me without my being offered freshly ground pepper and parmesan, in a restaurant that bills itself as freshly prepared Italian cuisine?!
The service: Our waiter lacked enthusiasm and walked past us several times after our asking for containers before bringing them, then again after taking my credit card for processing. (The dining room was not busy!)
Finally, the Local Eats promotional coupons: When I presented them with my credit card, the server said that we could only use one because I hadn't ordered an entrée, but I did order an appetizer and a salad that together cost more than some of the entrees. I suggested he check on this. When he came back, he stated that we could only use one coupon per table, and that we could use the other coupon the next time. What?! He thinks there will be a next time?!
Please note, that two of the other four New London restaurants accepted both coupons for the table and two of them accepted both coupons for take out pick up, all in the spirit of the promotion's gathering new customers!
Favorites Bistro and The Social accepted both for the table. And CJ Peruvian and Rico Chow accepted both for take out.
Holiday Inn guests, there are plenty of much better restaurants within a few blocks of the hotel. No need to settle...
