After a night that had gone sour during our vacation and a missed bus connection, we found ourselves walking a couple of miles (at night) to get to the DiMartino's in Algiers. Because it was the day after Thanksgiving, the restaurant was closing an hour early much to our dismay. There was a staff member mopping the floor and she very nicely explained why they were closing early. We understood and even though we were disappointed we turned to walk away. The staff member (who I foolishly forgot to ask her name) invited us in...all six of us FOUR KIDS AND ALL! We apologized many times as I worked in food service for many years and understand how frustrating it is when people come in right at closing. The staff was so incredibly gracious to us and assured us many times that they were happy to serve us and that it was no big deal. We felt nothing but welcome and the food was absolutely delicious!!!! If we ever find ourselves vacationing in NOLA again we will definitely make this a regular stop...and an earlier one too. ;) I would ABSOLUTELY and without hesitation recommend this...
Read moreA coworker introduced me to this place for lunch today. Apparently, it is known for their muffaletas, of which I did not order since I don't eat beef or pork! I was hoping for a hot meal. Instead, I ordered the chicken strips and fries. To start, I love fries, and because I also can not eat onion (which is in the potatoe salad their normal side), I opted for double fries. I was quite disappointed. The size of the order of fries was not what I interpreted a double order to be. In addition, the fries were cold by the time I made the five minute drive back to work to eat! Also, although the chicken had a good fry on it and had some flavor, I would not describe them as chicken tenders, but instead chicken nuggets. Lastly, for what I ordered, I think the meal was largely overpriced. I know the price of some things are going up, this was ridiculous to me. Since I don't or can't eat most of what is served here, I will probably not return. The woman serving was nice, and the atmosphere gave a trip back in...
Read moreAnother Five Star Review for pleasant atmosphere, great food, and service! Thank you. Di Martino's is locally & family, multi-generationally, owned, and are WestBank natives. The restaurant is open, clean, well-organized, and with a nice view. They offer great New Orleans style seafood as sandwiches, po-boys, and platters, Italian, and the very best muffulettas. I had & recommend the shrimp po-boy, my wife had & recommends the muffuletta, which she says is the best muffuletta in New Orleans, my son had the shrimp & oyster po-boy, and my grandson had a child's meal. The staff were clean & neat, well spoken, friendly, and professional. The manager came around to the tables to talk to the customers and ensure that everything was...
