I would love to give this establishment a 5 star review. But those are earned not given.
To start my evening here, I waited in the lobby for 15 minutes before I was even greeted. When I finally was sat, I had to grab someone to get my order. That was 35 minutes ago. I now sit here having had my soup, the broth now cold, still waiting on my 1 sushi roll, on my second Sake. I continue to watch Togo orders fly out the door at record speed, but not a single one has come to the dining room. It’s not the servers fault, she is by herself with 11 tables, two bar seats, a full sushi bar. The Togo guy is ringing in orders only and so the server has to stop to bring food up for Togo. They have another that I’ve only seen twice, and seemed bored both times.
Managers need to step in here.
Onto the food.
The Gayzo soup was sub par at best. The dumplings were obviously pre frozen. They had a rubbery consistency with a left over taste.
The sake, sits in a box and is filtered into an obviously faulty heater that only heats it past room temperature despite it being on the highest setting. (I’m sitting at the bar and the machine is next to me)
The sushi that I just received is okay, with ingredients that I could have ordered myself at Publix for 5 dollars on Wednesdays.
Trust me, I believed the other reviews and maybe they are right and it’s just an off night. But I will be finishing with state fair corn dogs at home because I don’t have time to wait for a...
Read moreLast night I had dinner at Umi 2. This was our second visit and I definitely not our last. The management recently changed so if you didn't like it before, give it another chance.
I had the salmon teriyaki. The salad that comes with it was fine but the dressing wasn't my taste. The soup was good, not diluted like many places. The salmon was thin but cooked well and tasted great. The teriyaki sauce was also good and goes well with white rice.
My SO had the sashimi appetizer, he liked it very much.
We also got the Fat Cow Boy roll. It was alright. Not my favorite but not bad either.
My SO also had the yellowtail sashimi. He enjoyed it tremendously.
We received the dessert pictured for free.
The owner who took it over, also happens to own my favorite Chinese spot (Wok to Go). So I hope they do well and will continue to support them.
Just a heads up though, the service both times I went was meh. They are understaffed so I try to be understanding. There is also only 1 sushi chef so if it gets busy, it can...
Read moreMy nephew and I went here since my niece is always ordering takeout. I was excited about my order as we were waiting for them to bring it to us. That's where the excited ended. Once we got our food and headed out the door, my nephew realized that his order was incorrect. He went back in and told them that one of his orders was incorrect. The guy at the counter told him that's what he asked for. My nephew asked to speak to the manager. Someone came out and told him that he would have to place another order and pay for it. They claim that they don't do refunds. My nephew spent over $60 on his order. He should NOT have to pay additional money for an order that was not his mistake. There isn't anything posted on their website or front door that says they don't give refunds. Even IF that is to be true, they still should have taken the incorrect order back and righted their wrong. Needless to say, that was my first and last time...
