I stopped here during New Orleans TriCentennial Mardi Gras. It was so nice to visit a place my mom and dad frequented when they were movers and shakers before my sister and I came on the scene. Yeah it’s been around a long time. I see this place pop up on good Pisces to eat in the N. O. and could never find it but did do walking round with my mom. We didn’t eat but I soaked in the atmosphere......comfortable and friendly. Like you at a house party, grown and sexy type. There’s a bar ample seating, a kitchen (I’ll sample next visit), a toilet in back and limited parking ops as it’s in a residential neighborhood.

Hank's is a wonderful and welcoming black-owned homestyle food spot with bar. The seafood potatoes are wonderful and filling. I also had the fried fish plate with mac n cheese, a salad that was made with mixed greens, not the boring ice berg lettuce, and green beans that were seasoned and simple. All tasted just like our Louisiana home-made meals. The one thing that needs to change is the $1.00 processing fee for using your debit/credit card. Additionally, this should be disclosed the moment the card is presented, not after we look at our receipt. I do recommend Hank's and will visit again.

My girlfriend and I ended up at Hanks on Thursday night and all I can say is thank god we did. Needing a break from the French quarter and Frenchman st we went for a walk around the treme only to be hit by a rainstorm and hanks was there to welcome us. We cannot express enough how amazing everyone was to us. It’s a neighbourhood bar so everyone knew each other but by the end of the night it felt like we did as well. I can honestly say it was a highlight of the the trip. Thank you all so much and we hope to see you all again.

I give Hanks Bar 5 stars! It has that "hole in the wall" type of atmosphere but those places tend to have the best food which is exactly what I was going for! I was given a warm greeting by a woman behind the bar and she kindly directed me to the area to pick up up my to-go order. I placed my order on the way to the airport so it was a huge plus that my order was prepared quickly. A part of my order was missing and even that was rectified swiftly & I was accommodated for the inconvenience! I ordered the loaded baked potato which was great but a little spicier than I hoped for; however, the flavor was awesome! I definitely want to go back to try the salmon...
