First, I want to say my appetizer was delicious, as I ordered the crab, spinach, and artichoke dip. The chips were fresh & crisp.
This review is about poor customer service on 5/30 and the host/manager unwillingness to accommodate a guest.
I parked on the Lakefront and walked to Landry's for an appetizer. Out of nowhere it began storming, so I couldn't leave to get back to my car. I asked if they could accommodate a party of ONE (1) since it started raining. The dark haired, female manager, said it would be a 35-40 minute wait. I asked if I could sit at the bar. She said, well there are no chairs at the bar. I asked if I could stand at the bar, and she said, well it's not really open and there are no chairs. (Sidenote: I was there the day before on 5/29, and the bar had chairs and 3-4 high tables on the side near the bar. The bartender told us those tables were for those ordering from the bar and that we could sit there to eat. Neither host shared that info, one being the dark haired female manager. My friend then requested a table, received the text that our table was ready. A host sees my friend on the patio, and questioned her asking if she had a reservation. My friend was embarrassed, as she felt she was being questioned about why she was there. Though I wasn't there when that part happened, it really bothered my friend to be singled out like that, and people looking. The host should have checked their log to see that a party of two was seated.)
I asked if I could sit on the patio if I find a dry table. She said, well it's raining, and there probably isn't anything, but she never went to check for herself. I literally saw empty booths and tables available. After realizing, she had no interest in my request for a party of one, I went back to the bar and waited for my food. Once done, I asked a bartender if I could eat on the patio if I find a dry table and the person said yes, so I did. Interesting thing is, a group of 3-4 ordered food to go right before me, went on the patio to eat, and then accommodated with a table inside. I saw the lady ask a different host, and they were given a table. Given it was two days straight with the same manager involved, it really makes me question how she does business. Do better, and be consistent in your service to paying customers.
I didn't let her poor service ruin my day, and once the rain stopped, I continued enjoying the...
Read moreWe, my son, daughter-in-law and I went to Landry's Seafood House to celebrate my first year in New Orleans. They asked me where I would like to go and I said for sea food. I looked at several places GW Fins, Peche, and others. I thought the menu at Peche sounded the most interesting. GW Fins was expensive. But my son thought it would be nice to oversee the lake. There were 3 places right next to each other Felix's, the Blue Crab and Landry's. Landry's was the furthermost out on the lake. The other two as best as I could guess overlooked the marina. As it turned out it was a stormy day and a dark night. The only thing we really saw was one sail boat motoring into the marina. But we did have a wonderful view of the Light House which still lights a beacon at night.
Landry's was good and had a wide menu. We had a shareable appetizer with blacken shrimp on a bed of crab meat and a small pile of rice. It was tasty and enjoyable. Then my daughter-in-law and I had one of the chiefs recommended dishes "Redfish Hemingway". It was a filet of redfish with a crab meat in a sauce for a topping, a couple of asparagus spears and pimento cheese grits. The fish was good the crab meat was wonderful, the sweetest I ever tasted.
I ate the grits thinking they were mashed potatoes. I would have been leery of the them if I had known the were grits. I was only familiar with the style of grits in a breakfast cereal. I have tried them with sugar and milk but they still were like eating sand, very gritty. The grits served here were completely different. As I said they had a consistency of mashed potatoes. So I learned to like something new.
We finished off with Bread Pudding in a whisky sauce. It was new to me too. Very nice if somewhat heavy way to finish.
The reason I only gave 3 stars was while everything was excellent, and the service was good, it is a chain restaurant and somehow seemed so. That maybe snobby but that was the way I felt. The bill was $200 with tip.
A good dinner and over all I would...
Read moreMy partner and I are from out of town and decided to dine in at Landry’s for his birthday. I have to start by saying that our experience wouldn’t haven’t been what it was without our server Ariel. Her recommendations, service, and overall willingness to provide an extra level of care just enhanced our experience. I also want to mention that everything we enjoyed was a recommendation straight from her. We started with the crawfish bread. It was creamy, savory, soft, flavorful, and hot! She timed it perfectly so that as soon as it came out the oven, it was ready for our enjoyment. We then followed up with two different entrees. The Ribeye, which was cooked perfectly to med rare and packed full of spices and flavor, was topped with a garlic herb butter that complimented the juiciness of the steak even more. It was also served with loaded mash potatoes that were to die for. Our other entree was the fresh redfish of the day! I’m talkin you could taste the freshness! It was served with a mix of sautéed squash, zucchini, and peppers. The seasoning of the veggies paired perfectly with the blackened flavor of the redfish. Ariel also mentioned additional toppings that we could add. When I say the fire cracker shrimp was bangin!! I mean, I wish I would have gotten more. And because it was his birthday Ariel offered us a bread pudding! It arrived with a candle, making our experience that much more exceptional. When we go back we’ll be bringing our appetite as well as eagerness for the same wonderful experience! I also have to note that we sat outside on the dock. There was no one else out there but us, yet Ariel was still pleasant and patient in answering all our question. I’m grateful for the experience and...
