I came in with a 2008 MacBook Pro that no longer worked. My idea was to put in a solid-state hard drive and bring it back to life. When I came in, he saw the computer and said that, unfortunately, a computer that old can't run new operating systems, and can only run an operating system so old that there is no access to it anywhere. I was really sad (I hate this throw-away culture, and I know the Macs from those years are really well-built), but then, he seemed to get a spark of an idea. I left the computer with him, and later that night, he said he had tried several things and it just wasn't going to work. I said I'd pick it up in the morning, but before I could get it, he came up with ANOTHER idea-- he made his own tool out of an old computer that he could use to get an old operating system into my ancient Mac, and it worked! He then put in the solid-state hard drive, loaded in all my old files from the old hard drive, and charged a very reasonable price.
My little old Mac now runs at lightning speed-- like a sleek new computer, but with the cartoony style of the old Mac displays! (Of course, the operating system doesn't work with a large number of modern websites, but it plays music on iTunes, can run Netflix and Amazon, plays CDs and DVDs, and holds all the photos and other files that were on it before and has plenty of space to be a back-up for my other computers.) The thing is-- and why I'm telling this long story-- it was so clear to me that this is a person who is not just able to solve problems, but someone who LOVES solving problems. Someone who relishes challenge rather than dismissing a customer who is not easy. So, if you need a smart, friendly, creative problem-solver who now has a tool to bring ancient Macs back to life-- head over to The Computer Geeks! I'd give more than 5...
Read moreComputer Geeks is, by far, the best service in New Orleans for those in need of computer services/repairs/installations/advice. Also, their fees are modest compared to fees charged by the other, larger companies in the Greater New Orleans area that I've (reluctantly} had to rely on throughout my 25-year career. Brian, who came highly recommended by various locals (both experts and neophytes), has proven to be brilliant in any kind of crises (having recently performed miracles that others said were impossible to solve). He is always exceedingly helpful and patient with customers while also proving to be far more knowledgeable than local competitors, both in the private and corporate sectors. It never ceases to amaze me that, no matter what crises or issues that may arise, he's like a master chess player, solving the sort of problems that others say are impossible to solve!!! He never takes that approach, but instantly knows how to hone in on a problem and his solutions are always spot-on. Even in the very worst circumstances, when all seems lost, he has figured out solutions within minutes. If only we had discovered Computer Geeks sooner, we would have saved many systems and...

I spilled water on my laptop and was very worried that it would be ruined. After reading the reviews of several computer repair shops in New Orleans, I decided to take mine to Brian at The Computer Geeks to see what could be done. When I came in he immediately addressed my concerns and inspected the computer. After an initial review he told me he could use a machine in store to help dry it out and I could leave it there overnight. He informed me what the rate would be, and it was more than fair and lower than I expected.
The next day when I came in he reassembled the laptop in front of me and walked me through some troubleshooting steps he performed. After a brief period of time everything was working great. I am writing this review on my newly fixed laptop! He did not charge me a penny more than the price we agreed on. He was also very friendly and pleasant while he worked on it. I would recommend this repair store for anyone who is looking for quality and honesty during their service....
