Old Road Coffee — Restaurant in New Orleans

ORC is right around the corner from where I live, so I go there often to "work from home". Love that you get 3 shots with a small iced americano. And they really improved their pastry game with Maple and the new front counter display case. However, anyone attempting to do anything other than watch the circus of dogs barking at each other inside the establishment and children screaming/crawling all over the bar counter/stools/running back and forth between the main room and side room (without staff or parent intervention) should stay home. This is not the coffee shop for you if you want to read a book with a general expectation of ambient coffee shop sound/noise or work at your computer, again, relatively undistracted/in a general expectation of shared space. I had a giftcard so I thought I would try the Nebula, which was an $8 specialty coffee and, while I wouldn’t say I was entirely disappointed, it definitely wasn’t a drink for me. I still find it strange that so many places that brand themselves as “coffee shops” have anything but coffee or as little coffee as possible. If you love latte’s, then get the nebula as a special treat, you’ll probably love it. But I was really hoping it was just an incredible pourover or high quality espresso, you know, coffee.

I walked in to order and the person at the counter sighed and seemed bothered by my presence in the establishment. I ordered a coffee and a breakfast sandwich. They placed a pre-made breakfast sandwich in front of me,that had been sitting on the counter under no heating or refrigeration. Aside from this not following safe food practices and being a potential health risk with eggs sitting in a danger zone of temperature, the person at the counter then just walks away as I'm proceeding to check out and starts complaining to their coworker about the lettering on one of their signs.
