I went in to Sweet Olive a couple of days ago for a haircut with Jo. I'd been to the salon before and have always gotten great cuts, but the other day was really exceptional.
In the last 6 months, I've lost about half the volume of my hair due to a recent change in medication. The meds are necessary, and the hair loss has been devastating. It feels vain to say, but the thinning made me so self-conscious that it was starting to significantly impact my quality of life. I booked a last minute appointment that morning in a desperate attempt to do SOMETHING that would make me feel better.
During my appointment, Jo listened to my concerns and the struggles I've been having with my hair. She came up with several ideas about how to hide the thin parts and work with my features to create a cut that would feel more comfortable. She was responsive to all of my questions and for the first time in a long time, I felt like it was possible to be happy about the way my hair looked.
Throughout the entire cut Jo kept me informed about what she was doing and why, and listened to my feedback. She gave me an absolutely gorgeous cut that far exceeded my expectations. I came in feeling so low about how I looked and when she was finished not only did I feel like myself again, I felt beautiful.

I texted asking for an appointment with Andrea (the person who is supposedly a pixie specialist), and I was told to book online. So I booked the next available appointment online, which was in a month. To my disappointment I received a call days before said appointment, saying Andrea was not taking any new clients and that they were canceling my appointment. Why customer service didn’t tell me this when I first tried to book via text? Why could they not open an exception considering it was their fault? I rather support businesses that respect people’s time and value their clients.
