St Roch Tavern — Restaurant in New Orleans

Im giviing this a 4-Star only because my review doesnt count for the bar, but for Clown Burger that you can find within. The bar from what I saw was typical bar scene, locals and the like. Has live music which I missed at the time I was at. The bar seems awesome, Im just not a bar person so I cant give an honest good review of it. So it gets a 4-Star just because its great, though the entry/exit sucks (too small doors, and I tripped on the way out twice! I wasnt drinking either.) And the bathrooms didnt have paper towels.

However, the Clown Burger you'll find here put of the kitchen is pure awesomeness. Not made from real clowns mind you, but still good. Their spice mix in their meat gives a hearty flavor. Good options for toppings. The price is cheap and the burger huge. Hell comparing Rally's next door, you get more bang for your buck at Clown Burger, with a larger size for smaller price. I havent tried everything, but heard the fries are hit or miss just because of the shape and the fryer used. The chicken nuggets however are amazing as well.

So if you want a cheap option most evenings, you're near the St. Roch Market, get on down to the tavern. Order up an amazing burger (cash only unfortunately!), tip your Clown cook, and order some great drinks at the bar (again, TIP! And TIP well, like 20-50% cause people need to live...

A true neighborhood bar. I have enjoyed a few Saints games there recently. I love the piano and the bartenders. I don’t know all their names but John and Martha rock. The free box is spectacular and I have a whole new wardrobe that includes clown pants. I feel like I’ve found the New Orleans I was missing during Covid. St Roch Tavern is cash only, but they do have an ATM on site (with a reasonable fee; non bank affiliated- only gives money in $10 increments - 😂) and a cigarette machine... it’s wild.
