Tried Laksa for the first time last night. Recently discovered St Roch Market and love going there. Technically, I have had their Burmese Tea multiple times, but never the food. The lady who took my order was super friendly and helped me decide on a dish. I decided to get something called Nasi Lemak. I asked for it to-go, but it smelled so good when it arrived that started to eat it at the market. Before I knew it, I had eaten the entire thing! The gravy/sauce was mild, but flavorful. In my opinion, it reminded me of an Asian take on stew. So good! The soup featured in picture 2 was also really good. I think it had lemongrass in it. Highly recommend this restaurant as well as ALL the restaurants at St Roch Market. I've never had Burmese food before so I can't compare it to another place, but Laksa is delicious, reasonably priced, and a...
Read moreOrdered the Omu noodles off the board with no pictures or price. Was given a buzzer, which might have been mixed up. Counter person checked it, handled me the silverware for my noodle bowl. Counter person then track me down afterwards to tell me I got the wrong bowl. He reemed me about not knowing my noodles was stir-fried and not a soup. Can't say what that soup was or how it taste, but the Omu noodles was not what I was expected. It tasted like spaghetti sauce, ketchup, and noodles with like 6 small shrimps. Was a bit more on the sour side. Didn't match the picture on their website. Option for spice level of 1-3, and I ordered a 3. It didn't taste spicy, and wishing it would drown out that sour taste. Wanted to like it since it looked authentic, but just not what i was expecting. The mixup kind ruined the...
Read moreHate leaving bad reviews but this is an exception. A couple weekends ago, only one in line. Didn't look terribly busy. Came to check on my food after 20 minutes (like I was told to by the lovely younger girl who checked me out) and she said it would be a few more minutes. I politely said ok thanks but the tall guy at the counter literally stopped me as I was walking away to say, directly in my face, that it "wouldn't take as long if people wouldn't keep coming up to talk to us". Really, really uncalled for.
Also, the Nahn Gyi Thok was a tiny portion in the smallest takeout box, basic peanut sauce, chicken scraps, a single half of a boiled egg, and four little pieces of romaine lettuce. Paid $25 for some dude to make me cry over mid noodles. I'll go to the cuban place next...
