I went to The Company Burger on Freret today. There was ample parking, and the outside and inside was clean. I ordered the company burger with no pickles, add bacon, onion rings, sweet potato waffle fries and a vanilla shake to go. I attempted to tap my card on the payment gadget, and it didn't work. I think the cashier said something and I told him it didn't work, and he took my card out of my hand WITHOUT asking me, and pushed it into the card slot. I kept my cool, but whether he realizes it or not, that was extremely rude. Maybe he's used to doing it, but you ask before touching other people's stuff. Then shortly after my order, my shake was ready, before my food. I felt that they should ask me beforehand because I would have preferred my shake to be fixed last. The biggest issue was that there was a straw with no paper on it in the shake when I received it. I said that I would have preferred that there was no straw in it and to get it after my order is ready. A young lady just pulled out the straw and he asked me if I wanted him to put it in the freezer, and I was so taken aback by her putting her bare hands on the straw that I didn't know what to say. I would have preferred that they ask me if I wanted it remade once my food was ready, but I guess he thought the freezer would suffice. I went to the mayo bar to put some different mayos in containers to try with my food. When I got back to the counter my food was ready. I asked for my shake, and then had to ask for a straw. He asked me if I wanted it in my shake, and luckily I said No, because he brought it to me with his bare hands. The cashier, grabbed a paperless straw with his bare hands and gave it to me like it was commonplace. First, you should NEVER put your hands, fingers, whatever on a paperless, uncovered straw. That's nasty, filthy and just bad business. Grab it with a napkin, but not with your hands and you're the cashier too. I was just like, Wow!
So let's talk about the food. All the mayos I tried were good: basil, chipotle I think and garlic. The onion rings were good. The sweet potato waffle fries were too soft so I put them in the toaster oven for a few minutes. The burger was sloppily made. The meat was too thin and dry. There was enough bacon there so I was happy about that. If there were onions, I didn't see them. I wish I had known there was not going to be any mayo, ketchup, lettuce or tomatoes on the burger. The shake was ok. I love a good burger and I really wanted to like it, but it was a BIG MISS for me today. Oh, and your online menu said that y'all wear masks and gloves. I guess that's no longer happening. I had my mask on because I have an autoimmune disease. I live far from this restaurant, and for me, it wasn't worth the drive. Please stop letting your cashier put straws in people's drinks, and try using something besides his hands to pick it up? I'm just...
Read moreI really like this burger place. I debated as to whether or not I should give it 5 stars because I've only had the Lamb Burger, Fries and a shake. But, I landed on a 5 for sure.
The Lamb Burger This burger is delicious. I'm not a pickled onion kind of person so it's up to you to keep them on the burger or not but I didn't. It's the perfect combination of flavors. The burger is cooked medium to medium well and then topped with blue cheese crumbles a mint sauce (don't let the name of the sauce fool you, it's red and does not taste of mint at all. It is sweet and flavorful and a must have! Just put it on the side to keep the burger from getting soggy if getting it to go.) The burger just has this rich flavor that brings out every accent. I will probably always get this burger when I go. I took my family and they loved it too!
The Fries They were cooked to crispy perfection but I will admit, they do not travel well. Nor do the burgers. If you're driving more than 20mins, I recommend sitting in and dining.
The Shake Delicious! They have a number if options. Though pricey, I think you will find it well worth it and freshly made.
The Atmosphere This is a cool trendy little place. It seats a decent amount of people. They get a lot of traffic from the hospital and I've always seen a crowd at the other one. If you go, you may want to hit the off hours to miss the rush.
The employees are always pretty nice. Sometimes they struggle to explain the mint sauce on the lamb burger but it is definitely uniquely amazing!
I will definitely be back! Love this place and I don't think I'd get a Lamb Burger...
Read moreThere is elegance in simplicity and the company burger excels at this.
The company burger which bears the name of the establishment is the perfect ratio of bun to meat. If you want anything more than red onion, pickles, and cheese you will be disappointed most of the year. Only when is it creole tomato season can you add perfect specimens of tomato. There is no lettuce to be had.
The ingredients may not be diverse, but the end product is one of the best embodiments of the hamburger that can be enjoyed anywhere.
You can add an egg, bacon, or cabbage, but it isn't necessary.
What should not be skipped is the mayo bar which boasts classic, basil, chipotle, garlic, and fancy. The latter of which is tastes like a typical "special sauce."
The sides are all well prepared. The usual french fries is present, but I often oscillate between sweet potato waffle fries and tater tots.
For those less inclined to consume red meat, the falafel burger is a near perfect embodiment of a "hamburger replacement" and it can and does stand on its own as an excellent sandwich.
The fried chicken sandwich is easily among the top 5 embodiments of the dish I have ever experienced. The cabbage and pickles add an additional crunch that only adds to the satisfaction of every bite.
Lastly, they will occasionally have specials and if they appeal to you, I cannot encourage you to order them enough. They go quickly and have each been better than any of them have a...
