NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN!!! UNBELIEVABLY BAD SERVICE FROM THE OWNER/MANAGER of this establishment!!! His employee made a mistake and handed me the wrong bagel (with bacon on it so I couldn't even eat it). I found this out when I got to work and he spent the next 10 minutes on the phone BLAMING ME! 'You took the wrong bagel' is the first thing he said... which is not how this shop even works. They call a name and give you the bag. I stepped out and back in and this tall bearded guy LOOKS ME IN THE EYE and hands me a bagel without calling my name, or confirming the order -- which I paid extra for bc apparently if you get cheese its considered a replacement for cream cheese.
HIS MISTAKE, no big deal. Make me the bagel I ordered tomorrow, I request because I'm already at work. I had to repurchase breakfast bc I'm vegetarian. He told me he would NOT re-fix my bagel, continued to blame me and stalled on the phone like it was some other major things he had to do beside deal with me.
I told him that he is clearly not from here. You will not last in this city in food like this. You can have an excellent product but if your are a solid douche bag it will come out in your costumer reviews......
Read moreFirst of all, there are no better bagels than New York style bagels purchased and eaten in NEW YORK! 😂 I’m in the Big Apple pretty often and my family and I will go straight to a crazy delicious bagel shop in Long Island after Sunday church service. So much has changed in my city since Katrina that I decided to Google something I’d never searched for in NOLA…a NY style bagel shop. Well…I found Humble Bagel not too far from home so of course I had to check it out. I pictured a line outside the door similar to my favorite Long Island bagel shop but much to my surprise, the line was short. There were quite a few people waiting for their orders but they were in and out in no time.
Food: Legit! Totally NY style and my everything bagel was EVERYTHING!!!! I ate half for breakfast and the other half for lunch. I wish my bagel was still nice and hot/toasty when I received it but it wasn’t. However, it was still delicious!
Service: Professional, friendly, and great smiles!!! 😊
Atmosphere: NEW YORK style bagels served with NOLA 💜💛💚 love. It doesn’t get any better than that!
I’ll be back for my must have cinnamon raisin toasted with plain...
Read moreFull disclosure: I spent all my summers in NYC as a child, and I'm a bagel snob. My mistake: I believed (seemingly credible) people who told me they were as good as an NYC bagel.
They are not at all comparable to an NYC bagel, not even an NYC bagel that is just "ok" rather than notably good. These are bagels, and that's more than I can say for the limp circle bread you find at places like the supermarket or Panera or other chains. But they lack the density and chewiness of a proper bagel, and I was completely underwhelmed by the flavor of the egg bagel I had this morning. It wasn't a bad flavor, but it was barely a flavor. It tasted like someone had watered down one real egg bagel and distributed the flavor across a half dozen. Meh.
However, I will give Humble full credit for some inventive and delicious cream cheese. I tried the chive (a classic that they did well) and the honey ginger serrano (a fun twist that totally delivered).
I bought a half dozen of various flavors to go so that I can give Humble a proper chance. I'll update my review if anything...
