I had two Yelp elites give me a very helpful inside scoop on where to get the best beignets in New Orleans. Rachel T reminded me that we have a co worker on the yelp team (who is from Nola!) She recommended reaching out to ask him where to go, and I’m so thankful she reminded me. Tomas (who is now the CM of Austin Tx) gave the Absolute best recommendations of where to go. Who better to ask than a former local themselves right?! Very thankful for all of his recommendations he provided!
Blindly going to New Orleans and knowing they are known for their beignets, let me guess, most of you think oh Cafe du monde of course! Same. I knew this was popular here but, I actually wasn’t too excited to add that place to the list. The giant franchise was not my first pick (no offense to those who do visit and love cafe du monde) But I figured there had to be some mom and pop place that probably did it better - and most likely sold them cheaper as well. It’s this place, lol - Tis Here! Look no further.
In my two different visits to this restaurant, I tried two different cheese dips, a sandwich, beignets of course, chai tea, matcha latte, frose’s to go, etc. I visited this place on my first day here, and stopped in on my last day before heading to the airport again. Well worth visiting twice, and the prices for what you get in return - wow!
I loved the mini piano on the floor upon entering this restaurant. How pretty and unique! Magazine street and its surrounding restaurants and store fronts were my favorite part of New Orleans. I would happily visit again just to make a day or two of that again.
This restaurant is located on or near magazine street. Plenty of areas to walk to & enjoy after getting your fulfillment of beignets. These beignets weren’t greasy or heavy, they were light and fluffy - plenty of powdered sugar or cinnamon and sugar on each one as well. If you think it’s too much, you could actually shake off a lot of the sugar or even order plain beignets if you wanted too. Everything I tried here was worth it to me. I would highly recommend stopping in The Vintage if you are in the area. No reservation needed. It’s an order at the counter, find a seat or table kinda place. I also appreciated their social media presence. I tagged them in my Instagram story a few times while I was visiting, and they always reshared it to their story as well. I do always appreciate when a business takes their social media presence seriously. I would love to come back and spend my money here on the next visit !! Take all my $$$ for the impeccable beignets please...
Read moreThis is an cute lil' retro throwback coffee and bakery in a prime shopping location in Uptown New Orleans. I really dig the vibes and nostalgia that in envoked by all of the wonderful items that are placed throughout the place, with my favorite of course being the cute, small piano that is at the entrance.
One of the best things about The Vintage being a prime chill out coffee spot & great alternative to other coffee shops is that they offer FREE WI-FI!!! Come one, come all and plans to spend endless hours on your devices while you indulge in their various food and drink options.
Social distancing is enforced and they require patrons to wear masks upon entrance. It is great that they have various seating options such as an small outdoor patio in the back and also tables to sit outside on the sidewalk in the front so you can take in the whole vibe of Magazine St as you never know what to expect. In my case while there, 3 large horses with riders galloping down the sidewalk which was an absolute sight to see.
I ordered the Fancy Flight which comes with 3 fabulous beignets. You can actually mix & match your selection. I opted for the King Cake, Matcha, & Raspberry beignets. I loved them all but I am currently obsessed with the King Cake version due to the glaze on top. Also I ordered a batch of beignet small bites which were tasty with plenty of sugar. I do feel that they should be offered with some type of sweet sauce or something as I feel it would push them to the next level of taste because if you don't eat them quickly while fresh & hot you will not have the same experience as when they are 1st delivered to you.
Whether you are looking for a cute date spot or quick bite to eat while you are out and about, I highly suggest this establishment.
P.s. I can't wait to go back and try the Truffle Fries. I saw them being delivered multiple times to tables and the aroma they put...
Read moreI frequent the Vintage often for coffee or drinks, as I work down the street. I've always had a good experience, until I was recently overcharged for a coffee by $10. It wasn't a big deal to me being that I work retail and know that mistakes can happen. I went in a few days later to see about getting a refund. The girl working told me I would need to wait until someone was able to go through the receipts to find the overcharge. Again, not a problem to me. I left all my information for someone to give me a call once this was done. A few days later, I still had not heard from anyone. I tried giving the number listed online for The Vintage a call, but was directed to a voicemail. I know Mardi Gras is a busy season, so I thought it best to wait until afterward to go in again. The second time I went in, I asked for a manager, who I was told was out but would be back within the hour or so. Again, I left all my information for someone to look into this for me, and have yet to hear from anyone to correct the mistake. As someone who works in the customer service industry, it's baffling to me that a refund of any amount would not be handled in a timely manner. I tried to give this establishment the benefit of the doubt the first time around, but clearly I'm left to believe that my request for a simple refund is falling on deaf ears. If no one wants to correct this, I'm left to wonder if this was truly a "mistake" to begin with. Sadly, if this is how you do business, I'll have to find a new after...
