We were on a weekend golf trip this past weekend. Looking for someplace to eat on the Friday night we were in New Philadelphia. Had been recommended by a couple of people to go to J-N-G Grill. Called for a party of 12. They were very accommodating. Told me that we could get in, in about an hour. Perfect! Got to the Grill and were seated in less than 5 min. Waitress was quickly getting drink and appetizer orders. She was very pleasant. She told us about the specials and helped with suggestions. So far everything is going great. Food orders were taken. Food came out in a very reasonable time. That's when things were not the best. Almost every order seemed to be over cooked. Hamburgers were mostly well done. Mine and a couple others were to be med/med rare. The fish sandwich was small and over cooked. The same with the fish dinners. One order of pork chops were over cooked and dry. Food tasted good JUST overcooked. Chocolate Peanut butter cake was awesome! Pricing is very reasonable. Overall staff, pricing, many choices on the menu were spot on. Deserving 5 stars but, do to the over cooked food I had to drop it to 3 stars. I was told that there is a new owner (cannot confirm that) and hopefully it was just a bad kitchen night. With the many good recommendations I would give the place another chance if ever...
Read moreThis used to be our go to place but the music is SO loud you can't even hold a conversation. We have been willing to put up with the music for years now for the good food, but now they changed their menu and took off some of their classic menu items. Anything with tomato sauce is now off the menu, which is what they are known for. No homemade pasta sauce, meatball sub, or even homemade ketchup on the table. The fried pizza is still there but the sauce tastes from a can. Other foods lack flavor and the taste we have come to love. They don't even have the breadsticks on the menu anymore. It's a completely different restaurant that is open more for the bar than the food. If you want good food, there are plenty of other establishments in the area that actually care about how their food tastes and have a rich history that has been kept by its owners over the years, which made them successful. Not something that is trying to satisfy the younger crowd (unsuccessfully) while throwing away the rich history of an...
Read moreFirst but certainly not our last trip. From the outside, it seemed like a hole in the wall old time factory bar. They've recently remodeled their facade. Inside it still is, but we ended up sitting outdoors. I'd go back and sit inside. The bar was busy but not loud or rowdy. The Jalepeno Burger was delicious and brought some heat. The side of penne was good. The marinara a tiny bit runny but great flavor. My wife got the haddock and enjoyed it. Her fresh cut fries were more than she could eat so I had to help. J-N-G homemade ketchup was tasty. The Pirate ketchup spicy but very good. Prices seemed high until the food arrived. Very good for the amount received. The service was better than average. So was our tip. Once again, I forgot to snap a photo until my food was almost gone. That's always a great sign. Don't go for the ambiance. But do go. And go for the food, the service, and the price. We're just sorry it took us so many years for our first visit. It won't be long...
