Mikey's Pizza — Restaurant in New Smyrna Beach

We recently ordered a large pizza at Mikey's. To begin with, Mikey's large is 14". Now, many pizzerias have an 18" large. So, this is confusing. We ordered for pickup and we were at the beach, so when we got there and realized how small it was, there was really nothing that we could do about it except take the pizza back home. The problem is, if you are expecting a large pizza and you get a small pizza, then you'll need more food. I made a salad and everyone was relatively well pleased. When I was at Mikey's, I asked what their extra large is. It turns out that Mikey's extra large is a 16" pizza. That effectively means that Mikey's extra large is not insignificantly smaller than many other pizzeria's large. I realize that pizza parlors do this so that, at first blush, it appears they have a better price. "Hey, a large pizza at Mikey's is only $X.xxx. The problem is that even though they refer to it as "large", I fear that at best it's medium. At some pizzerias, it might count as a small. Onto the pizza itself. The pizza is not thin crust, New York style. Which is cool. It's more middle American thick crust, hearty style pizza. I don't want to mislead; it's not Chicago deep dish, just a heartier, thicker crust than typical New York style. My kid liked it fine. My significant other and myself were not as crazy about it. All this being said, they were friendly at the pizzeria. The service was relatively quick, and the price was not overly expensive for a small to medium pizza. I would have given them 4 stars if they had called it...

It pains me to give Mikey’s anything but 5 stars. Whenever we’re in MewSmyrna Beach we have to give Mikey’s Pizza a call and order a few pies. In my opinion, Mikey’s is the best pizza in NDB. However, this time, the woman who answered the phone to take our order and subsequently delivered our order gave my fiancé such an inexcusable attitude that we just couldn’t believe it. We’ve never had this issue with Mikey’s before. We provided a tip despite this. Upon delivery, she was very irritable and rude. She made a comment about my fiancé and how she had dealing with her was a nuisance and claimed to another person with us that we stuffed her on a tip. I’m not sure what this employees issue was, but I’d recommend an attitude adjustment. Leave your personal life at the door when you enter work. I want to continue to enjoy Mikey’s for years to come but we will NOT deal with this sort of attitude for,...

We ordered medium Pepperoni and Jalapeño, and an Antipasto salad. Both were good. Not the best I have ever had, certainly not the worst. I liked the thicker crust, and the toppings were generous. There was the perfect amount of sauce. The crust seemed like it lacked something, perhaps salt? The only observation that would have (perhaps) elevated our experience, was attitude. It’s everything. The person who took our order didn’t seem to be happy to be there. My kind husband said “charming,” when we went back in the car to wait. Just give us a little… we are always kind to wait staff and appreciate a little reciprocity. Mikey’s is still worth a try, just order delivery; your experience might be better...
