While my chocolate malt was ok (couldn’t taste the malt, but was chocolatey), I was shocked by Graeter’s lack of an environmental consciousness.
Not only were they giving samples away on plastic spoons (ever heard of wooden spoons? Or even better- metal reusable spoons like Jeni’s uses?), even worse my malt came in a STYROFOAM cup. I couldn’t help but feel like What year is this? What country am I living in?
I already feel bad about the plastic top and straw if they use a paper cup for my malt/milkshake, both of which are optional so I can opt out and feel less guilty about my guilty pleasure of ice cream. But i will never return to Graeter’s for a shake- nor any other ice cream product of theirs- until they stop prioritizing the coolness of a customer’s drink over the planet. Is it really worth using styrofoam to achieve that if it is gonna pollute the earth for the next 500-600 years?
So if you agree with me and don’t want our planet trashed further so milkshakes can stay a little cooler a little longer in a cup used ONCE, you shouldn’t support this irresponsible business in any location.
And another less ”personal” reason I’m giving it one star was the terrible service. Not enough employees for a busy Saturday and I had to remind the employee helping me I was waiting for my malt because she had started to serve other customers, forgetting about my order in the blender. They then gave me the wrong total as I tried to pay. Rather pathetic, but maybe it was her first day... or...

I had a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip ice cream on a cone. It tasted really good. It was creamy and tasted like real peanut butter. I loved the chunks of chocolate chip in the ice-cream, they were larger than the regular chocolate chip you find in other places.
My wife got a Black Cherry ice-cream on a cone as well. It was savory and had chunks of cherry. Also had a creamy texture and delicious flavor.
I didn't like that they put the cone on a cup. I don't know if that is the style they have for cone but I would've prefer just the cone.
We were visiting the Chicago area and looking places were the Home Alone movie was filmed and we got here. I can't believe this used to be a Pharmacy were they filmed a scene on the 1st movie.
*This was our first time here, not the most friendly staff. They didn't greet us. I would've expected at least a "hello". We were the only customers in that moment. I give 5 stars because they weren't rude and the ice-cream...

As for Graeter’s in general, they are one of the few ice cream shops that are truly worth the price. The quality far surpasses other very highly rated and talked about ice cream shops in the northshore and city that I’ve gone to and thought the ice cream’s fine, but tastes like something I could easily get at a grocery store. Graeter’s has just a rich flavor and texture and they don’t skimp out on the extra bits or mix-ins in the flavors.
Also they have a lot of flavors and are elevated, unique, and appealing for adults, not just kids. I love that.
I highly...
