If you don't speak or read in Spanish, this isn't the place for you unless you have one of those little translator devices or apps on your phone. They do not speak English.
That being said, the food is sooooo good. This restaurant serves Ecuadorian cuisine, I think, mostly centered around the Guayas (Guayaquil). It's one of the very few places that serve muchines (fried yucca with cheese inside). The food is pricey, but there's a reason for that. The portions are huge. Be prepared to take a to go bag home. They also have cheaper lunch specials if you go there during a certain time.
Also, the last time I was there, they had bread babies or guaguas de pan. It's decorated sweet bread that's made for dia de los difuntos (aka dia de los muertos). Some traditions in my family were lost, so this was my first time having this bread. It was delicious.
The bill was confusing. If you're going to South America for the first time, I suggest going here first to help prepare you for the differences. The bill was done in a way that South America does it. For example, $5.31 would look like $5,31. This would be a perfect prep place to go. It really does feel like you're in another country when you're in there.
Definitely give it a try if you're in the neighborhood. You'll...

This was my second time going and she had me standing at the register for a good 3 minutes in her face before acknowledging me then she told me she spoke no English. Granted you speak no English a simple smile or gesture to wait while she got someone who speaks English would have made such a difference in my experience their. So she started taking my order and stopped mid order and walked away from me to help the servers share a plate for a table. I spent $40 there and her attitude was disgusting IF YOU ARE BLACK DONT GO THERE THEY ARE PREJUDICE. You would think they would appreciate your business more especially spending as much as I did. I ordered bake chicken with rice and beans the chicken taste old and stale the only thing that was good was the empanada verdes. I really enjoyed the empanadas but because I was treated so horribly I will never step foot back in there. They only care to cater to there own kind...
Read moreIt was my only visit but I can see why so many people were turned off. There's literally a line of people outside just sitting and loitering. Inside was packed. I was seated. The waitress comes over and just starts spouting if I want veg soup or chicken soup. No hello no menus and no explanation of the specials. I ordered from the menu and got ceviche. The food was brought over promptly and was very good. This is not a "normal" establishment but the place was clean enough and food was quick and good. FYI if your bill is over 30 dollars they put a "service fee" of 10% for the waitress. I blame that more on the people that frequent rather...
