Place is fairly big but yet feels tight by cramming tables and seats to get more business. Area is crowded and not easy to find parking. Well as for the food, I'd say better than average. Granted not many Ecuadorian restaurant in New York as is so most people will rave about this place or the food. What do I know? Well I'm Ecuadorian. It's not that food is bad but to say it's amazing is a bit much in my opinion. Plus I love a particular dish and I asked if could substitute certain item and was told they couldn't, well it's not listing it on menu for NO SUBSTITUTION, I thought customer is always right, what if I had a particular diet, or how about the fact that when I went I was one of maybe few tables all which I could count on my hand, I could understand if it was crowded and people waiting around but it was practically empty? So the particular dish I wanted was a pork dish, Fritada, so got one to go. The pork was more like riblets as oppose mixed with chunk of pork which some places would do. Matter of fact in Ecuador itself you'd find more pork chunks, obviously a cheaper way to fill the plate. The container having pickled onions, etc had a hair on it. Easy to know it wasn't mine cause I don't have long hair! Gross! How do you miss that when packing food. Staff seems nice but took their time to serve food or bring items. As for food ordered their was fine. Not much flavor, little bland, big portion but I've had better. Sure, being Ecuadorian I complain of food instead of cooking myself, well there are days you want to eat out and I came here cause of a friend...
Read moreTo begin with we were the second table to be there at the time. We ordered a total of three hot drinks, which two of them were given cold after 15 minutes of waiting, and the second one 10 minutes after the first two after it had been siting in one spot for minutes. I had to call the waitress attention in order to get my drink. We didn’t receive two of the orders made, one soup and one salad. Both were canceled because things had already been taking too long. The food didn’t taste as one expected, I’m Ecuadorian and can say that there’s better places out there. Their food barely had any taste. The service was bad, our table wasn’t taken care of. We had multiple plates that needed to be taken away. Had the menu with us the whole visit. There was no effort made to make us feel happy at their restaurant. There worse part was paying a total of $160, including a $20 tip that couldn’t be avoided because it’s included in the bill. The service, the food, and even paying was bad. We had to go up to them because they took too long to come and get our card. It was just a horrible visit I hope no one has to deal with ever. The place wasn’t worth our money. The waitress didn’t desver any tips. No complaints were made because we were tired of waiting and had to...
Read moreI had the opportunity to go to this restaurant to celebrate my partners birthday since It was recommended by some friends, before going I called as I wanted them to sing happy birthday, they told me that I should only tell our server, when we arrived. I informed the server the reason for the visit. only 3 tables in the place were occupied, our waitress was"Paola. We ordered the food that was not what we expected the food was not the best and the service was not exceptional " and no one came to sing happy birthday. When I ask for the bill, it stated that if I pay with a credit card they add 4% service charge which seems ridiculous to me because there was no sign anywhere that stated nor was we informed by the waitress that such transactions woul occur. We had not seen anything announcing this but the waitress stated it was posted and the door. Well it was not!!! It is not the client's fault that the owner does not want to pay the service charge for credit cards. I gave one star as I cannot post this with...
