Review: Blue Line Fry Plantains – Flatlands, Brooklyn Rating: 10/10
If you're in Flatlands, Brooklyn, do not sleep on Blue Line Fry Plantains—this place is a whole vibe! It's a small, super clean storefront with big energy. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the sound of Afrobeats playing on a big screen, and the ambiance instantly set the tone for a great experience.
The menu is stacked—so many tempting options that I didn’t even know where to start. I ended up ordering the fish sandwich made with plantains as the bread (yes, plantains as bread—so good!), with sides of extra plantains, mac and cheese, fried goat, French fries, and some refreshing drinks. Every single item was flavorful and cooked to perfection.
What truly took this experience over the top was the hospitality. The customer service was superb. Despite limited seating, the staff made sure we were comfortable and personally brought the food to our table. The manager—who is also the owner—came over to greet us, check in on our experience, and even offered us a taste of their signature Haitian soup, free of charge. Let me tell you—that soup was on point. I had never tried Haitian food before, but that soup alone made me a fan. It was so flavorful, I honestly wish I had known about it sooner!
From the food to the service to the atmosphere, Blue Line Fry Plantains gets a 10 out of 10 from me. I’ll definitely be back—and next time, I’m ordering a full bowl...
Read moreOn Saturday, my fiancé and I visited this restaurant. Unfortunately, there was a guest smoking weed right outside the entrance, which was off-putting. We've reviewed hundreds of restaurants, and while I’ve never been a big fan of Haitian restaurants due to their often poor customer service (despite good food), this experience reinforced my opinion. We had visited this restaurant a few weeks prior, and while the experience wasn’t bad, it wasn’t remarkable either. Hoping for improvement, we decided to give it another try. However, we stood at the counter for over 15 minutes without anyone acknowledging us or taking our order. Even when the owner/manager came to pick up an order from the printer, they didn’t bother to ask what we wanted. Frustrated, we left without ordering. I’ve noticed the owner often replies to positive as well negative comments, but it’s meaningless if the feedback isn’t implemented. For now, I recommend avoiding this place. If you’re craving a plantain sandwich, I suggest visiting BunNan at 2123 Caton Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11226. They serve great food and provide outstanding customer service. I’ll update this review if I see improvements in Blueline Fry Plantain’s customer service. Until then, I’d advise...
Read moreBe careful. They over charge you for food. Then the ladies act like they don't know english repeating after you and staring talking foreign language. So rude and odd. I bought 8 wings which were really 4 wings cut into halves that made 8 pieces of wings. I also bought lentil soup that was watery barely lentils. This was early afternoon today. Who the hell pays almost $3.24 for each wing. Please tell me. I had to ask 4 times if the fried fish is whiting and how many per order. The registrant kept saying one fish. I said what for $15.99? Is so annoying asking why am I being charged $12.99 for 4 wings cut into halves when on the menu it says $11.99. The registrant says is including tax. When the tax was added separately from $12.99 on my receipt. I tried showing them my receipt and they ignored what I said and kept repeating 12.99 tax already included. It was like talking to two Defective Robots. And no fries or plaintains included with the wings. They were horrible. Smelled like old oil and got me sick. Is a hit or miss with this restaurant. Depending who cooks the food. Never again. First and last time buying food...
