I’m a Rockaway native and I’ve been to Boardwalk Pizza many times over the years. The food is not great and definitely overpriced but I’m always in the area and it’s just pizza so I don’t make a big fuss about that. Besides that though they are generally nice people and I always try to support our local businesses. However on this particular instance, it did not go well.
I called to order a slice of pizza a head of time to be ready when I get there. The guy on the phone said they don’t do orders for pizza slices over the phone and hung up. I still went there and asked the guy at the counter if he was the one that took the order. He said “yes and we don’t take orders for slices for anyone.” I said ok you didn’t have to hang up so rudely though. He’s like “no I don’t change for no one I own this place.” I wasn’t crazy about the way he was talking to me but I was in a rush already and needed to get something to eat and leave, I still put in an order for a pepperoni slice and paid him. Then he go goes “you f’in people, order and then waste hundreds of dollars because you don’t show up”. I asked him what that had to do with me. He said “I don’t care, I don’t care go somewhere else then. You people can go to Elegante or other pizzerias I don’t need your business.” I immediately asked for my money back.
There was another guy there that was shaking his head almost in an apologetic way. I said you’re always nice to us when we’re in here can’t same the same for this guy. I left shaking because I was so upset and appalled with how rude this manager was. Me and "my people” will never be back here again. Only people who are not natives and who come out here to enjoy the beach during the summer will give them business. Otherwise they are constantly empty and I see now it’s for good reason. It is...
Read moreI’ve been coming to this establishment since it came to the Rockaways and was a “big hit”. I usually never leave reviews but more so recently I’m so disappointed with the quality of the pizza and especially the price! I ordered a pie for pickup, 1/2 with pepperoni and when I arrived to pick up my order, half the slices were so burned and the crust looked old and unappealing! I complained to the person who handled my order and his disposition was very nasty! He made excuses for the pizza being burned and before I could finish explaining myself he kept cutting me off. I requested to speak to the manager which he told me “I’m the owner”. Meanwhile, he’s not the person I’m usually used to dealing with who I know to be the owner. Anyhow, he then calms down after telling me I’ll need to wait 30 more minutes for a fresh pie when I told him I only wanted for him to replace the burned pepperoni slices because my child will refuse to eat it!! However, the pizza was so nasty!!! The crust was thin, and it had a burned flavor on the entire pie even those slices that didn’t appear burned with really hard dough!!! Read moreI have lived at at Dayton Towers for 10 years, I have been a loyal customer of Elegante Pizza, but after tasting Broadwalk Pizza, It was an amazing experience, a slice of heaven. Great delivery staff and the most delicious pizza. I have ordered about 3 times and it has tasted the same. Note to owner, keep your staff happy, keep your cooks happy to keep consistency. My family are definitely fans.
Was 5 stars now 1 star.... EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED Update... 5-20-2021 Placed order about 35 minutes before closing. Order came oily Shrimp Scampi ordered ... sliced sausage pomodoro w/ meatballs....no meatballs and very salty. Its 10:29 after I called to inquire about meatballs I paid for, I understand but after I hung up to eat oily/salty food. I had to toss it all in the trash $43. + I tipped almost $7.... Oh and no utensils... Good job. I'm sorry... I have been a restaurant manager, Grand Lux Cafe etc and down to the last meal to closing... there are no excuses about food quality to all guests. I got lame excuses which I made no big deal when I called and spoke with the young woman, but my money.. $50.00 went down the drain and I'm hungry. Not doing this again and don't need...
