Bordeaux Steakhouse — Restaurant in New York

This steakhouse is a true jewel in Brooklyn. Overall it gets 5 stars but if I could give it 10 stars, I would.

Okay now let’s get to it! The decor and ambiance is perfect for date night, family dinner and client meetings. The crowd is private as if everyone is literally in their own world. This steakhouse is kosher and prides itself on making everything from scratch in-house. But wait, I’m getting ahead of myself.

So you place your order and the journey truly begins. The bread 🥖 is like nothing I’ve ever tasted before. It’s a perfect mix of a flaky layered biscuit crust with a soft warm interior. The appetizer menu was excellent. Rib tower is a favorite (good for 2 or 1 if you’re hungry) & my children adored Sweet Chili Chicken Bites. They always have amazing specials and the way our server, Tatiana, describes them, you are guaranteed to try it. We ordered their glazed ribs which is over a 48 hrs marinated, braised and smoked process. The Tomahawk Rib Eye served with the marrow is out of this world! The desserts, how could we possibly have desserts after such a lavish meal, right? Well...we ordered the shake special and sorbets made in-house. Everything stated above along with exquisite wine pairing, chilled sparkling water, mindful and tactful customer service makes this the PERFECT PLACE.

I had to take this paragraph to show much love and appreciation for our server, Tatiana. Her service made us comfortable. Her suggestions and education on the cuts are 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽...she is gifted and priceless. From her tone, knowledge, candor and familiarity with our taste buds, how could we not return to Bordeaux? We had the pleasure of meeting Chef Denise Reyes, the master mind behind every plated masterpiece. Her empanadas, flavor in the meats and passion is proven in every single bite. Our family looks forward to special occasions so we can shut down our kitchen and go to Bordeaux Steakhouse. 😍

I'm going to go with 3 stars for 2 very important reasons that make a huge difference to me and people like me who enjoy fine dining.

I dined at Bordeaux last night for my birthday. Firstly, upon entering we were greeted by a Maitre D and seated right away. The decor is really beautiful and old school. They kept the design from the previous restaurant and it truly does it justice.

Our waiter introduced himself, he was really nice young man who knew the menu RE what would be a good dish and was quite attentive. As a side note, while dining it was difficult to track him down. We had to keep asking other waitstaff to call him.

We ordered a bunch of apps; Aged Beef Carpaccio, Porcini Dusted Tuna, Pulled Beef Ravioli, Bordeaux Taco, Beef Burger Sliders and a Market Salad. Entrees we ordered the short ribs and the special which was a sous vide medium rare steak with mashed potatoes and courgettes.

Every single dish was quite mediocre and really I can't point to a single dish and say damn that blew me away. If you are charging these prices per dish, you better be selling yourself properly. Of everything we tried my favourite, literally the one thing I can point to and say that was good, was the side dish courgettes. You're doing something very wrong if that's my take. Especially coming from someone who has tried the other local kosher fine dining establishments.

Now, something else really ticked me off that I was appalled at. So you consider yourself fine dining and pricing above Brooklyn mediums yet between appetizers and entrees I wanted to give my waiter the dirty fork I used for my apps. His response was, keep it. You'll need it for the next course. That is unreasonable and very off putting. A fine dining establishment changes cutlery between courses.

On to desserts. We ordered the Deconstructed Smores, Chocolate Peanut Butter Explosion, Mango Shortcake, & another that I can't recall the name. I have always heard raving reports about the desserts here, but again, a real let down. Very underwhelming and tasteless. I was really expecting a WOW! at least one WOW!

Oh well, I'm honestly giving 3 because our waiter was quite nice and I had great company...
