Solid thin crust pizza joint on Atlantic Ave. Was a little skeptical after reading some of the negative reviews but based on my experience I'd say they were unfounded. Came in for a late brunch and we were seated immediately. They have a happy hour from 3:30pm - 6:30pm all week including weekends which I thought was fantastic. Happy hour includes 2 for 1 on select wines and draft beers. There was also another offer including free beer with a particular kind of pizza that I can't recall.
We decided to order the quattro formaggi on the server's recommendation and also a make your own pizza with a pesto base topped with jalapeños. Pizzas came out in about 15-20 mins and were piping hot as you'd expect. When they say thin crust, they mean it and the wafery thin texture of the base literally melted in your mouth. I loved that the base wasn't overdone to the point of being burnt which I imagine would be easy to do when making a thing crust. Both pizzas were delicious and I'd be hard pressed to pick a favourite. The quattro formaggi delivered as expected from a classic but the pesto base pizza was really yummy too. May have been a little salty for some people's liking but I had no problems with it. Will definitely be back to try some more of their pizza.
Service was friendly although it did get a bit slow when the place filled up a little. Didn't take away from a great...
Read moreI brought my younger brother to Brado to discuss his bachelor party a couple of weeks ago. I went on the suggestion of a dear friend and figured that my brother would enjoy it (as would I). We consider ourselves somewhat of pizza snobs/aficionados. I have to be honest here... Brado exceeded our expectations. The service was prompt and exceptional. We were taken care of well and had no complaints – we even stayed late for a last drink and the kitchen stayed open just for the two of us with no sass! A rarity in Brooklyn. The bartender Pete was also amazing. I could not decide on a cocktail from Brado's personally crafted menu so I asked for a suggestion based on the type of spirit I most enjoy. Pete (the sweet bartender) made me a killer Jack Rose! As for food, my brother and I shared an outstanding Greek salad and the Shroomtown (a thin crust pizza with an eclectic mix of porcini, portobello and button mushrooms drizzled with just the right amount of white truffle oil (which can easily be overdone). It was truly a revelation! We ate the whole pie! The ambiance was old school and I ran into several neighbors, thus I can say it's rapidly becoming a local watering hole that reminded me of the television show 'Cheers' (you know the one; "where everyone knows your name"). I will be back and most certainly recommending to friends and family and fellow pizza lovers!...
Read moreI've been here before a couple times, and it was great. Today's experience was really off. Started with the main courses not arriving together, so one person eats alone.. Salad was not exciting, the meatball pizza lacked salt.. flavor was imbalanced. The Penne alla vodka pasta - over cooked (too soft), and the sauce was not to my liking.. too acidic, chunky.. I didn't even finish half of it. Our friend had a pasta carbonara with mushrooms - he usually orders quite a bunch of dishes - left half the plate full too... basically we came hungry and left hungry. The coke - fountain, we were charged for the refill (unheard of... especially when the cup comes HALF full of ice). When we mentioned that to our waiter he insisted and waived it. The order of the beer didn't show up 25 minutes in, until we asked for it again, twice. I do not...
