Sugarboy Bakery Cafe — Restaurant in New York

If I could, I would give this place 0 stars.I had the unfortunate opportunity to visit Sugarboy Bakery Cafe and I must say, it was an incredibly underwhelming experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was met with an unwelcoming atmosphere that left me feeling both disheartened and belittled.

The first thing I noticed was the aloof and condescending attitude of the young girl behind the counter, who I assume was an employee. It seemed like she couldn't be bothered to spare a second to acknowledge my presence, let alone offer any assistance or guidance. Instead, she kept her eyes glued to her phone, typing away as if I was a mere inconvenience.

As I hesitantly approached the counter to inquire about their cake options, I tried to initiate a conversation, but the girl's demeanor was nothing short of dismissive and cold. It was as if I was an unworthy interruption to her otherwise exciting day.

I couldn't help but feel that she regarded herself as superior to me for some unknown reason. Perhaps she thought her position behind the counter elevated her above the level of mere customers like myself. Whatever the case may be, her lack of basic customer service skills and her blatant disregard for courtesy were shocking and offensive.

I believe that customer service is an integral part of any successful establishment, and this place has a long way to go in that department. It's disheartening to see a bakery with potentially tasty treats tarnish its reputation due to the arrogant and disinterested behavior of its employees.

I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking a pleasant bakery experience. The girl working there needs a serious attitude adjustment, and the management should take immediate steps to ensure that their customers feel respected and valued. I have been a frequent customer through grubhub at this bakery and started going physically to get cakes for thanksgiving,Christmas,and birthdays.. the cakes are amazing but the reason I am leaving this place 1 star is due to how they handled my customer service issue. I had ordered a Dulce de leche cake with caramel for my mothers 67th birthday being that I had bought a display for thanksgiving that mother loved, apparently it was ( Dulce de leche with tres leche ) I wanted the same exact cake done for my mothers birthday cake. I called in and spoke to a representative that was attentive to this matter and told me to bring in a piece of cake so they can take a look at it, she also stated that they could refund me my money but I told her no, I just would like the cake re done because I am taking my mother out to dinner this Saturday and I would like to surprise her with the actual cake she wanted. I decided to make my way to Sugarboy to bring the piece of cake; having to take an Uber to rectify the issue. I was told that they wouldn’t be refunding me or re making the cake because it was what I wanted. I also had told the lady in the front that the cake was dry because indeed it was DRY. I am disappointed on how they handled this situation giving the fact that the cakes are super expensive and my fiancé and I have been doing business with them for about a year. Extremely disappointed. Went in there truly believing I would be in love with my sons cake for his 1st birthday party and i was nothing but disappointment. The theme was an All Star Mickey Mouse them so I wanted a combination of both Mickey and certain sports balls in the cake. After showing pictures and a 45+min conversation with the young lady who took my order who btw was very sweet and professional they seem to not have understood the concept nor the picture of how i wanted it and did not add the balls in the correct places around the cake. They were added in the back and they were suppose to be all scattered around. I was told i would receive a picture of the cake the day before the event (Friday) and didnt receive anything. If they were confused about the design they should’ve cleared it out and not the an almost $600 cake how ever they felt like doing it. The last thing I was expecting was to be seeing the wrong cake design at my sons event, especially after the price that was paid.
