This is probably the best bar in New York, and a i’ve been to far too many bars. Friendly bartender, cheap drinks, free pool table, B side movies, board games. The best part is there are dogs everywhere: on bar stools, at the front door, on benches, on tables, hanging from the ceiling, you name it. they all receive a milkbone with entry. They no longer have the taco stand but they do serve a sleeve of Ritz crackers with a can of Eazy Cheeze, and you are more than welcome to bring outside food. With no dearth of dining options in the area, I opted for a sandwich from the nearby green market, but Paulie Gs and Comptons are also less than a block away. On a Saturday afternoon, almost every demographic of person could be spotted here and each was welcomed and seemed to be enjoying themselves.    Read moreThis is a fun local bar, with a good comfortable vibe, even if it is a little edgy. Don’t be fooled by the “speakeasy” moniker that is referenced in the search engine ... this is not PDT. Although the bartender tried a good attempt at a Manhattan, he then remembered they were out of Vermouth ... oops. Still, once you get over the fact that craft cocktails will not be in your immediate future, the place is enjoyable, fun people watching, and its a comfortable place to hang out in Brooklyn. Don’t plan on playing pool, either. The locals definitely have that table locked up...

It is a smaller kitchen so food can take some time but it's a hangout spot so to me that's totally fine. If you are in a hurry, I'd suggest asking how long they think it'll take if there a bunch of people in the bar since it's hard to tell how many people are...
