Carvel Ice Cream — Restaurant in New York

I recently ordered a custom cake from this Carvel location for my sister’s 13th birthday. We provided a picture of the design we wanted, but the staff initially said they couldn’t replicate it exactly because of the swirls on the side. After adjusting the request and confirming with them that they could make the design without the swirls, we went ahead with the order.

However, when we picked up the cake, it looked nothing like the inspo picture. My sister was really disappointed since this was for her birthday, and the design was important to her. When we went back to address the issue, the store’s only solution was to swap the cake for a premade one in the store, but my sister didn’t like any of those. They also refused to issue a refund, even though the final cake didn’t match what was agreed upon.

I understand that not all custom designs can be replicated perfectly, but the cake looked nothing alike. We asked for white icing, they gave us hot pink icing. There should have been better communication and at least some accountability for the final result. This little Carvel is a gem along 18 avenue. It's different from the other Carvel's that usually only carries the usual suspects, because this one has some unique flavors that I can find in Chinatown Ice Cream Factory. It's like someone wanted to play around with flavors and took advantage of the equipment that Carvel provides. And, to make things even better, it's cheaper than Chinatown Ice Cream Factory by nearly 50%. The staff is nice and friendly, serving you with that smile. Placed a simple order through uber eats . 2 sundaes very simple 1 with chocolate ice cream and hotfudge with brownie bites other a twist with hot fudge and cherries . 1 gets the brownie bites no fudge and the other gets the fudge no cherries. How the heck do you mess up a small order. Smh . I called the store girl tells me o I'm sorry instructions were labeld and wouldn't even make a new order for me and pay for it. She wanted me to place a new order so I get charged again for fee and have to pay tip again and tells me o sorry someone was training.
