I recently had the pleasure of dining at a Japanese restaurant and tried their chicken teriyaki and barbecue squid. Let me tell you, the experience was fantastic!

The chicken teriyaki was absolutely superb. The chicken was grilled to perfection - tender and juicy with a deliciously caramelized teriyaki glaze. The flavors were balanced, with just the right amount of sweetness and savory notes. It was accompanied by a side of steamed rice and stir-fried vegetables, which complemented the dish beautifully. Tenzan is my favorite Japanese / sushi restaurant. I have been frequenting them for many years now and their food and service never disappoints.

I usually call for delivery (you have to call, they aren’t on apps), I ordered take out in person the last time, and I have dined in person multiple times (their private rooms are so nice - you just have to ask for it when you go in and they’ll give it to a party of 2 or more; you have to take your shoes off, so make sure you have a pair of socks or something to cover your feet if you don’t want to be barefoot).

The quality and portions are the best I’ve encountered compared to other places. Their prices have gone up from when I first encountered them, but it’s very worth it. I tend to order a lot for myself to last me for the day I order and the next day (for sushi) and few days to weeks later (for soup & noodles).

We are frequent customers of Tenzan (1-2 times a month for the last 4 years) and now we're noticing the quality of the food and service is starting to slip. The last few times we went, the food wasn't as fresh as it used to be and delivery service has been hit or miss.

Tonight we waited close to an hour for our $70 order, only for it to arrive cold and missing an order of rice. We live 4 blocks from the restaurant. When we called, they said sorry and that it would take half an hour to get there and we said that's alright, we'd still like to have the rice as it was the only side to our main dish.

The driver comes back 15 minutes later with the rice, which is also cold...go figure.

I want to believe this is just a one off thing but the change in quality of the food is noticeable, the prices have gone up (which I understand given the current climate), and there's also an extra 4% credit card service charge now.

I think we'll wait a few months before giving them...
