Chap A Nosh — Restaurant in New York

Have only tried their Chinese items so far.

Their chicken fried rice and sesame chicken were quite good

Their general Taos chicken is bland, hardly any taste, no unique flavor

Their sweet and pungent (sweet and sour) chicken is about the same as anywhere flavor wise, breading was crispy

Chicken quality was good for each item

Their wonton appetizer had a flavorful sauce, the issue was how they package it - they dump the wontons in a container of sauce, drenching/rending them soggy immediately, I don’t understand why they would t put the sauce on the side, like they do with the sweet and sour chicken- same purpose…

While everything was good compared to some other Chinese options s I’ve tried since moving here, it is far and away the most expensive! Almost prohibitively so for delivery considering they mark up prices almost 50%! 21.99 in store vs 31.99 in Uber eats, they always keep increasing their prices every few days, went from 29.99 to 31.99 in just last few days

Hard to justify going here when comparable options are so much cheaper

Chowtime’s chicken entrees for example are only $7.80 vs chap a nosh $31.99, and while better, Certainly not $24 per menu item better.

Chicken fried rice, sweet and sour chicken, and sesame chicken - a staggering $86 here vs $20-30 at any other Chinese option…clearly gouging customers

If you are feeding a family, I wouldn’t even bother, 1 or 2…very occasionally, you could spend the same or less for a full course meal at a nice restaurant for the same price and have a much more enjoyable experience, you just are not getting the amount of food to justify the cost

Maybe the buffet cost is more reasonably priced? I dont know as I haven’t tried it.

Anyway I would stay far away from ordering delivery here, either dine in or take out, you’ll save $10+...

I was a loyal customer I use to love this place in new owners they change prices like people change their underwear all the menu items on the wall are now flatscreen television‘s where they switch prices like the stock exchange but the biggest demise is with the new owners I find is the quality of the food which I loved and literally I bought a lunch special chicken wings the feathers were still on the wings but the most disgusting meal I’ve ever had in my life the eggrolls were from probably the night before deep-fried a second time just to make it hot for me sesame chicken also tasted refrigerator than reheated very sad are used to be a great place anyway I wish somebody buys them back and treats the food like it should be treated for the prices they charge. Chop a Nosh used to be awesome, was packed all the time and food great and was something to enjoy. the variety of all kinds of dishes, especially if you crave stake, chinese or southern baked or fried or even grilled. We can hold on to nostalgic moments, time to time I ordered take out chines mostly. I also ordered fried chicken it was good to. However last time I ordered fried chicken when I opened the bag was very disappointed and frustrated. its as if a trust was gone and the memory is now desecrated.
