So this review is a couple weeks overdue because of the holidays but it was on my to-do list. I was responsible for catering a holiday lunch at work and had to provide kosher food. I wanted to order from a new place as my coworkers were tired of the same kosher restaurants. I saw this on google and was a bit skeptical at first because I have never even ordered for myself here or tried their food once, but the lovely staff made me feel comfortable and confident I should order from here. The staff pretty much glorified how amazing their food was and I thought that’s what they had to do to sell it but I was wrong. Their food is AMAZINGGGGGG, not just good. Like I immediately wanted to order for myself the next day but it was a Saturday and I couldn’t haha. I asked my coworkers and bosses “ok so what do we think? Can we order from them again?” And their responses were all the same “yes!” And “yes, very good. The food was so fresh”, “it was delicious.” “We love this place. This is our new place.”
That being said, we will be ordering from here going forward. Not only is the food delicious and fresh, but the staff is hilarious, welcoming, helpful, patient, and the beautiful Heidi is so sweet! I’d give this place 10...
Read moreWhile meandering past, accompanied by a small entourage of fellow epicureans, I found myself drawn — nay, summoned — to this establishment, where an opulent journey of flavors awaited.
The loaded fries with pulled beef arrived first, a baroque composition of textures and aromas. The beef, tender as whispered secrets, exuded notes of oak-smoked reverie and slow-simmered nostalgia. Each fry, a golden baton of starch, played counterpoint to the rich umami, with a finish reminiscent of a late-harvest Syrah kissed by the faintest whisper of barbecue muse.
The burrito bowl followed as a triumphant crescendo: cilantro-lime rice bursting forth in zesty effervescence, weaving verdant herbal arias around the noble, grounded gravitas of seasoned beef. Hints of sun-warmed coriander and the sharp punctuation of lime zest danced together like a well-choreographed pas de deux across the palate.
And then — ah, the denouement! A chilled vessel of Poland Spring water, crystalline and virginal, whose crisp, mineral backbone spoke of ancient Appalachian aquifers. It refreshed not merely the body, but the very spirit.
A dining experience worthy of framing in an ornate gilt frame and hanging...
Read moreHidden behind a tree in Brooklyn, La Sova is one of those hidden gems you feel lucky to stumble upon. It’s the kind of place where the owner doesn’t just serve you food but is willing to chat and share the story and inspiration behind each dish. That personal touch made the whole experience feel extra special for us. We came in as a family of ten on the night before a wedding (we pretty much filled the place), and the little restaurant was filled with our laughter and plates of incredible food. The Mexican food was the favorite. The portions were generous, the prices more than fair, and every dish had us reaching across the table to share (or take) from our siblings.. The food was so good, in fact, that my daughter and new son-in-law (both gluten-free) got hungry before the wedding and ordered again the very next day for delivery, and once again, La Sova delivered (literally and figuratively). If you’re looking for authentic, fresh flavors, warm hospitality, and a place that feels like a secret worth sharing, give this place a try. It’s the kind of restaurant you’ll want to come back to and tell your friends...
