JT's Lunch Visit, 7/31/19 @ 1:09 PM to Mom's touch in Little Neck

Once I realized that Mom's touch was finally open (which, frankly was accomplished fairly quickly compared to how long other new establishments have taken (or been taking) I couldn't wait to head inside & give them a try.

I went for lunch on Wednesday afternoon, shortly after 1pm, and it wasn't too crowded at all, there were several diners enjoying their lunch at the neat & clean tables, which seemed inviting (and had I not had a zoom call to rush home to partake in, I'd probably eaten my lunch at the restaurant.

The young man at the counter was polite & kind, I inquired about what several dishes were to ensure my first order would be to my liking, and once I narrowed down my choice to the jalapeno chicken burger and a side of corn salad, it didn't take long for them to prepare my items, and get them packed to go, so I could be on my way back home to enjoy my first Mom's touch meal.

My initial impression was the chicken burger was pretty large, you're definitely getting a value for your money, and the chicken was cooked just right. Tender, flavorful, with just the right mix of onions, lettuce, tomato's and apparently some other sauce they must add a bit to kick up the flavor a bit. I was very happy with the burger, & the corn salad I ordered as a side dish also hit the spot, not too spicy, very fresh, no soggy kernels, & just the right blend of some seasoning to give it en engaging flavor that made you want to enjoy more.

All in all, I'd say this restaurant will likely do well in this neighborhood, especially given how the ethic mix has skewed towards a largely Korean population over the past five years or so.

The prices are reasonable. Having spent far too many years working in Manhattan, & paying upwards of $12-17 for a decent, fulfilling lunch, my order came in just short of $15, which I felt was reasonable, especially given the quality of the food and how it was prepared & presented.

I will definitely be back again soon to give some other items on the menu a try, and next time likely give the dine-in experience a try, but as for the bottom line on my first taste of "Mom's Touch" I'd say it gets a thumbs up, & I was rather impressed.

The ONLY reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating vs. the 4 stars I rated, was because I specifically ordered my meal to go, and when they called my number, I appeared to pick up my order which was set on a tray, and I had to remind them I ordered my food "To Go". No biggie, while they cheerfully transferred my order to a bag & got that together, the little finishing touch's I would have expected, including some napkins, perhaps some utensils, or inquiring if I desired any condiments (or at least pointing them out as to where they were) *given I was obviously a new customer, & not familiar with where everything was laid out, just would have been that little extra "touch" that I would have said Hey! These folks opened right quick, overhauled the entire space to prepare it to serve food, and hired an attentive & astute staff to boot, and for the most part that would be a valid statement, but in fairness to the young folks who were working there, we all have to start off somewhere, & this review isn't meant to be mean or nasty at all, it's simply an observation from a season restaurant frequenter (especially in this neighborhood) who's overall satisfied with the experience I enjoyed, but just adding a few kind comments to help make you aware as the business grows and your experience working with Mom's touch grows as well, there are a few little extra things you could double check or be mindful of, which would take the place over the top!

Kudos to the management who selected a fine location and friendly staff to share the Mom's touch experience with the community. I genuinely look forward to returning and experiencing & enjoying other items on your...

I was openly excited to come here for the first time and trying their thigh Sandwich after seeing someone hyping this place full a TikTok video but was utterly disappointed with my experience!

Me and my partner ordered two Thigh Sandwich and ordered seasoned fries to accommodate our meals and went to our seating and awaited to be served.

Please note, prices are a bit high for small portions. The Thigh Sandwich was good but not better than Chick Fil A (which the TikToker and another review claimed but still can't hold a candle to the King of Chicken Sandwiches).

Let's get to the seasoned fries that's advertise at 9.99. It looked good when we first received and glance at it but that's about it! When I first tried the seasoned fries, it had this chemical artificial taste and really tasted bad. It's coated with powdered cheese and some other chemically tasting ingredients which made the overall taste gross and felt I was eating plastic fries!

I immediately called the server and kindly mentioned to him, the taste was chemically unpleasant and truly bad. I asked him if I can swap these out for regular fries (which is cheaper on the menu) and he went to talk to the owner.

To my disbelief, he came back and told me the fries were already prepared and he can't undo the fries or remove the seasoning. I instantly replied and letting him know it does not taste good at all and would like to substitute for regular fries.

He said the owner declined my request and I couldn't believe what I heard! Then told the server, I am not going to eat them and will be thrown away because it was awful.

Never in my life I seen a restaurant force a customer to keep food that you expressed your displeasure and tasted bad. Normally a restaurant would do what it takes for customer satisfaction and kind gesture to accommodate a small request to make a customer happy.

This is signs of an owner that doesn't care about its customer and showing cheapness. I paid Ten Dollars for the seasoned fries and threw it in the trash bin and didn't care about the money spent, it's the principle. All I asked if I can replace them with regular fries which was a cheaper menu item and was completely shocked by the owner's response and action.

I would not recommend going to this place at all and it's overpriced! Just avoid, so you don't have to go through similar disappointing experience I had and just save yourself...

I heard about this place in a Sunday sermon described as the best chicken place. I mean who would lie to a minister, right? So we ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, chicken bites, and the chicken noodle salad. It’s in Queens so it was pick up only. Inside, it’s a long but narrow space that kind of made me think of that coffee shop on “Friends”. It has a couch. I would love to come back and chill when Covid is all over. Also, right at the entrance is a separate booth in the style of a food vendor stall in Seoul, selling spicy rice cakes. What a terrific vibe. So we take the food home. It’s all packaged nicely to survive the trip. Let’s just say, game over. The most tender juicy fried chicken thigh meat sandwich in a buttered bun with lettuce and tomatoes with a spicy mayo sauce. This is more KFC style than Korean Fried Chicken. The bites were smaller nugget size pieces of that same fried chicken. Incredibly, we saved some for the next day which when reheated up in the air fryer, it returned to its just-fried glory! The salad was composed of more of those fried chicken bites with butter lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and a light dressing on top of soba noodles. Not necessarily my favorite but if you need to assuage some guilt by eating greens...

I recently visited Chicken is Back and tried their Thigh Burger, and I must say, it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This place has quickly become one of my favorite spots in town, thanks to its delicious offerings and charming ambiance. The Thigh Burger is nothing short of spectacular. The chicken thigh was perfectly cooked—juicy, tender, and bursting with flavor. The crispy, golden-brown coating added a satisfying crunch with every bite!! The interior of Chicken is Back is cute and cozy, creating a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger. The wall paintings of different styles of chicken are adding character and a sense of fun to the space. Whether you’re dining alone or with friends, the ambiance makes for an enjoyable and relaxing experience. **Overall Experience:** The combination of delicious food, friendly service, and charming decor makes it a must-visit spot. If you're a fan of chicken sandwiches or simply looking for a great place to eat, Chicken is Back should be at the top of your list.
