Cozy Hair — Local services in New York

Price: $18 regardless of age (men only) Wait time: none (appointments must be scheduled) Parking: lots of public parking, especially on Sunday. Literally parked right in front of the shop. Experience: Place looks pretty old and run down to be honest. This place only has the owner/barber, but there are 3 seats for cutting hair. Roughly 50 minutes for a haircut between my son and I. We just got a generic buzzcut. He was very detailed, and he cleaned off the hair debris really well compared to other places I've visited. He would wipe the debris with a towel, use a mini brush, larger brush, lint roller with the removable sticker strips, and end it with those circular facial wipes. Will definitely return for a haircut again. My goal was to find a spot that is affordable. Nearly every other spot within the area is $25+. Overall experience was pretty good if you aren't going for some extravagant haircut .

Addressing some of the bad reviews: He speaks English perfectly fine. Yes, he did trim my eyebrows without me giving consent. I wasn't upset about it, but it would've been nice if he asked first. It did take a bit long for a buzzcut, but he was incredibly detail, and cleaned me up well.

Side note: BP gas station is literally next to the shop. You can leave your car there for maintenance, and inspection while...

Having observed him over the years as a barber, I believe he is not a bad person per se. However, discovering his underlying thoughts was expected yet still disturbing. He believes he is entitled to treat his customers however he pleases because he offers a "cheap price" (his words). What’s more troubling is how important it is that you must remain on his good side. If you find yourself on his bad side, he becomes extremely defensive, never admits his faults, and 'teaches' you a lesson. It's ironic and unfortunate that customers must navigate the owner's mood. If you can manage that, by all means, continue to go. But for me, the final straw was when he blamed me for something that was clearly his mistake. That was when I knew it was...

Young does an excellent job and is always accommodative & double checks to ensure not only that he provided a quality haircut to my standards, but also attentive to the finishing touches. Even during the plandemic, I've experienced the same level of care & quality as before. I'll miss his service when I move out of the area at the end of the year, through no fault of his - but "King Cuomo" has made it unbearable to exist in this...
