DO NOT GO TO THIS ESTABLISHMENT IF YOU ARE NOT SPANISH ! While the staff was very nice and attempted to make sure I could enjoy my time (great customer service) , the owner of this establishment robbed me blind. I first contacted the owner Matty about reserving a birthday section/s about two weeks before my bday. Matty was nice and replied in an efficient and respectful manner. Now , I like Spanish music (popular ones everyone knows) but I am not a Spanish speaker , music listener etc itâs just not something Iâd want to listen to for hours on end . So,when I go out Iâd like to listen to a diverse list of music ( reggae , dancehall , bachata ,soca , hip hop and rnb) . He let me know saturdays are international Saturday and assured me that this is exactly what they play. In between that span I made sure to ask him if heâs sure that theyâll play different genres of music because my whole section is diverse and we do not want to buy the section if all we have to hear all night is Spanish music . He told me that I can call him personally if they do that because itâs international and thatâs not what they should be playing all night long at all ! I get to my section at nearly 1:30/2am so I can make it in time for when clubs usually play the best music . When I walked in , Spanish music was playing and it didnât bother me because again itâs international saturdays so I sat and bopped with my 20+ ppl section until an hour passed and I still heard ONLY Spanish music. I became agitated as my group was standing around bored because we do not listen to this type of music (besides 2/3 songs that once again the world should know) . After I decided I was going home , the staff near the door tried to reason with me and I assume they talked to the dj because the dj then played 3 hip hop songs where I thought okay now theyâll start switching it up but NO !. As soon as those 3 songs went off, it was back to the same Spanish music weâve heard them play for an hour . KEEP IN MIND , I told the owner a multitude of times that in me booking I wanted reassurance that I would be hearing different genres because I didnât want any mixup or discrepancies on how I spent my money . He put on this facade as if he understood but really just wanted my money . We spent over $2800 to stand there and be bored while the djs catered to who they wanted to cater to obviously . Will never spend money here and as a business owner myself this was a horrible horrible first impression that Iâll make sure all my clients never have to deal with . You never know whoâs who at your establishment . A 10/10 for all staff from bouncer to hookah people! They were the only ones to make my day worth anything.
Do yourself a favor , if you like Spanish music , Dancehall , r&b , Hiphop , Go to ALCAPULCA Astoria , South beach or Solleto as there is a reason those places stay jam packed with people...

From the moment I stepped into code Astoria for our companyâs recent work event, I was struck by the electric yet inviting atmosphere that perfectly balanced sophistication with warmth. The ambiance wasnât just âniceââit was transformative, turning what could have been a standard corporate gathering into an unforgettable experience.
First Impressions: The entrance set the tone immediately: soft, golden lighting cascaded over a modern-industrial lobby adorned with lush greenery. The blend of exposed brick accents and sleek metallic finishes gave the space a trendy, cosmopolitan vibe, while plush seating areas invited guests to linger and connect. It felt both upscale and approachableâa rare combination that put everyone at ease.
Lighting & Layout: The lighting was a masterclass in ambiance design. Overhead pendant lights dimmed to a warm glow in social areas, creating an intimate feel, while brighter, focused illumination in the presentation zones kept energy levels high during speeches. The layout flowed seamlessly, with distinct zones for networking, dining, and presentations. Even with a large crowd, the space never felt cramped; instead, it encouraged movement and spontaneous conversations.
Design Details: Every corner felt intentional. From the curated artwork that sparked conversation starters (âHave you seen the mural in the lounge?â) to the mix of high-top tables and cozy lounge nooks, the design catered to both collaboration and comfort. I loved the subtle touchesâlike scented candles with fresh, citrusy notes and live plants that added a breath of vitality to the urban-chic decor.
Acoustics & Atmosphere: Remarkably, even as the room buzzed with laughter and chatter, the acoustics allowed for clear conversations without shouting. Soft background musicâa blend of upbeat jazz and modern electronicaâthreaded through the space, enhancing the vibe without overpowering it. The energy felt dynamic but never chaotic, striking the perfect tone for a work event that aimed to inspire and connect.
Standout Feature: The back yard stole the show. It has Alot of space for mingling, a bar and plenty of seating. Colleagues transformed into conversationalists, and the usual work-talk gave way to genuine connections.
Final Thoughts: Code Astoria isnât just a venueâitâs a mood. The ambiance elevated our event from routine to remarkable, proving that the right environment can amplify productivity, creativity, and team spirit. Whether youâre hosting a conference, cocktail hour, or creative workshop, this space delivers an atmosphere thatâs as functional as it is inspiring. A standing ovation from this attendee!

Read moreI went to Code tonight, and honestly, the atmosphere inside was solid â the music was jumping, and the event itself was fun. But the way the staff handled things completely ruined the experience.
First, the security and front door workers were absolutely disrespectful. After my friend got her bag checked, security found a tin with weed (which they allow inside), and instead of just handling it, one female security guard loudly announced she might be âin the mood to smack someone.â Super unprofessional.
Then at the second check-in to scan QR codes, everything was chaotic. The staff was yelling different instructions, couldnât manage the line, and it was just a mess before the club even got crowded. On top of that, the club advertised online that a table purchase included 8 free entries for this specific Saturday, but when we got there, the guys in our group were told they had to pay because of an âevent.â That kind of bait-and-switch shouldâve been made clear ahead of time.
Inside, things didnât get better. One man in a fedora â who I assume was working there â kept grabbing my friend aggressively as we tried to move through. He wouldnât stop until she finally turned around to confront him. A bald security guard actually apologized for him, which says a lot.
I asked for a manager because, as a woman, that situation was way too much to just brush off. Instead of apologizing, the woman âorganizingâ the tables (long dark ponytail) laughed at me and made excuses. She wouldnât call a manager for me, so I had to track one down myself. The manager offered free hookah as an apology, which I appreciated, but honestly, the entire staff needs retraining.
To make things worse, later on another tall, heavy-set security guard was pushing through looking for people smoking. He actually put his hands on my friend and moved her with two hands â sheâs small, and there was absolutely no emergency happening. The way the security handled themselves all night was completely out of line.
Overall, the music and vibe were there, but the staff was so unprofessional, aggressive, and disrespectful that I would second guess going. Bottle service was amazing tho great ladies they had for...
