WARNING: AVOID AT ALL COSTS (Read Below)
My husband and I came here on Saturday night when I was looking for a venue to celebrate his birthday. We got inside and made our way to a table near the bar. There was a busy crowd further inside the place and fairly enough amount of staff who kept passing back and forth. Moments later, I had to check if we were invisible because 10 mins had passed and nobody seemed to notice us. Somebody finally came after I approached one of the staff that we've been waiting in our table for quite awhile and we need water and the menu. Incredibly inattentive staff, tsk tsk.
We ordered Grilled Octopus, Chicken Satay, Ammos Roll and Volcano Roll. 15 mins after, Grilled Octopus was served, then waited another 10 mins for the Chicken Satay to arrive which tasted so awful. Our drinks kept both of us busy until we noticed that 40 mins after, our sushi weren't there yet. I followed up with the waitress who said it's gonna be there in 10 mins. After 10 mins, she came to our table and told us if we would like to order something else because they couldn't make Ammos Roll at the moment. WOW, why didn't anybody tell us from the start? And lo and behold, the Volcano Roll was not even there too. You said 10 mins, remember???
At this moment, I could see the waiters and waitresses just chatting and socializing in the bar and in other corners, like they were having their own party. Even the manager was just chatting and laughing with them instead of checking with the customers if everything is alright (like what managers usually do to us in good restaurants). ONLY a weak manager will allow a place to run like this. If your employees respect you, they will make sure that they're always on top of everything. In short, he doesn't know how to control and direct his staff.
10 mins later, the waitress came back with the Volcano Roll and apologized for the delay. She explained that there was a party event that they were taking care of. It's an invalid excuse for me. They should be prepared if they know they are gonna have an event. Not only are they inattentive but they're also incompetent.
Usually, my husband and I are very generous with tips but this time we didn't give any. I also wrote a note in the receipt saying "Pls improve your service... it's very poor."
We noticed a couple sitting close to us didnt get any service yet. They were sitting there for like 15 mins or so. We told our waitress about it as we were leaving.
When we took our coats and the lady heard our tale, she felt bad and offered us drinks which we gracefully declined. No drink can ever suffice the bad (worst!) experience we had in the place.
So we ended up having my husband's birthday celebration at Don Coqui Astoria. I chose the place even if it was way more expensive than Central Lounge. Their service was excellent and the whole family...
Read moreWORST CLUB / BAR EXPERIENCE EVER. On January 1, 2018, I went for a Balkan Bash Event with my cousin and friend. We were denied General Admission entry after patiently waiting for over 1 hour on the General Admission line in the freezing subzero cold. The doorstaff LITERALLY TORTURED patrons. Two ladies ahead of us in bare heels nearly suffered FROSTBITE. The two white men in charge of the door entry (one with a full beard and other military buzz cut) were RUTHLESS, CONDESCESDING AND SIMPLY INHUMANE. These two men were the EPITOME of what a FRAUDELENT HUMAN BEING IS! In a futile effort to "sell tables + bottles", these two men proceeded to MOCK patrons by stating, "you can either get a table or STAY OUT HERE AND FREEZE YOUR ASSES OFF!". They purposely, maliciously and in a life threatening manner held up the General Admission line on one of the coldest nights in NYC history. I considered getting a table but NO WAY once I realized how SAVAGLY EVIL the door staff was behaving. It would have been an insult to HUMANITY to even spend a single PENNY at Central Lounge.
I've never EVER seen Venue Door Staff behave so DISTURBINGLY EVIL. And I have visited nearly all the TOP of the line Club Venues in Manhattan, Las Vegas, Barcelona, Berlin and Los Angeles. Even, the head Spanish bouncer in charge of ID checking was left in a complete state of SHOCK and AWE. I'm in the process of filing a formal complaint against Central Lounge for unnecessarily abusing and torturing patrons. In addition, I have contacted the following organizations(the Better Business Bureau BBB and the NY Departmanf of Consumer Protections) to fully investigate the door staff practices at Central Lounge. My only wish was that I video recorded this horrific ordeal as evidence.
I also have requested the NYC Department of Health & the New York State Liquor Authority review Central Lounges liquor license as they have a history of under-pouring shots (clearly less than the 1.5 ounce minimum) and serving fraudulent liquor. Central Lounge is a BAD BAD BAD ESTABLISHMENT with gruesome staff/practices and I will see to it that they are either fined or disciplined in an appropriate manner.
P.S. : I'm very accomplished; I have a Doctorate of Pharmacy diploma and I am the head bartender of TWO OF THE BUSIEST RESTAURANTS AT LaGuardia AIRPORT in addition to multiple High-End Clubs and Fortune 500...
Read moreMy fiancé and I had been here years prior for New Year's celebrations, so when we saw an event here again, we were willing to go. We bought the dinner package (which we also had done years prior). To say that we were disappointed even before we got in the door is an understatement. No one could sit us at our table, and when we finally sat, the couch or lounge area was DISGUSTING - covered in stains, dusty, the works. Then my fiancé pointed out to me that the seat was wet- thought it may have been because someone dropped something on it, but it was because the ceiling was leaking right above us and down a wall. We sat for a bit before dinner was served and there was only one waitress attending to a bunch of tables - the girl was great and sweet, but not ok that she was alone in the whole situation! Then we found out open bar on NYE was only AN HOUR. Sounds like a joke, but it's not! Not to mention there was literally no options to drink ; my fiancé wanted a blue moon and they didn't have it! So, we didn't drink anything except Corona and Heineken! The food was ok, which is honestly the only reason I'm giving this place 2 stars. After we ate, the party started and again, in another part of the club, the ceiling was leaking! It looked so cheap and embarrassing to walk by the spot and see a garbage pail collecting water and people walking around it. The music was ok, nothing to run home about. Again, it's NYE & my fiancé and I got no champagne for a toast, which was promised when I bought tickets. We left at 1:30 - so corny, so gross and when we left I looked up and saw holes patched up with duct tape - long story short, the place is mediocre, falling apart and not worth it. Wanted more from what I...
