Don Nico NYC — Restaurant in New York

Not sure what happened to this place.... I used to come here all the time with my boyfriend, the food was always delicious, and the people were always kind and informative. We decided to order last night for the first time in a while. The girl kept picking up the phone, and telling my boyfriend to "please hold" when she realized it was him again, and then we could hear her laughing and talking in Spanish in the background, super unprofessional. She let us know, VERY RUDELY, that pick up orders have to be paid over the phone. When my boyfriend inquired about when that new policy started, she AGAIN, VERY RUDELY just repeated her same statement. We went in person to order our food, and they got the order wrong. When we went to correct it, they owed us $5+, and instead tried claiming that we OWED THEM $6. Ridiculous. They were so rude. Our food was mediocre at best. The mac n cheese was 70% liquid that spilled everywhere in the bag. The quesadilla was dry, and where they used to give guacamole and salsa, mine just came with sour cream and the tiniest drop of dried up salsa. Wouldn't recommend this place anymore, not sure what happened. I hope they reconsider...

We were looking for something different to eat and came across this place to try. First we call to place an order for delivery. We even asked if they delivered after we gave our address and was told it was ok. The young lady we spoke to was rude by rushing us to finish making our order. We get a call back from her saying they dont deliver to our address after she charged my card. So now we just want a refund. She cant refund us because she says the manager is not there to do it, we’ll have to wait til tomorrow morning to have it done. She should’ve told us they couldn’t deliver before charging the card. We decide to go there instead to eat in, since this has gone so horribly wrong already, maybe the food will make up for everything so far. Boy were we wrong. The food was sub par. We ordered cheese nachos, salmon aneli and cheese enchiladas. They did try by giving us plain nachos and guacamole oth and I did like the decor and atmosphere of the place. Idk maybe it was a bad day for them. Ill change my rating if we ever decide to give this place a...

I didn’t want to post this because I really enjoy this place but I had to. I’ve been eating at Don Nicos since they opened in Jamaica, Queens. The food and service is always great and I’ve introduced others to this place. However, I recently ordered a desert from them and the next day I went to eat it and there was mold growing on it. I had the desert refrigerated so there’s really no excuse, other than the cake was old to begin with or perhaps they did not store it properly before selling it. Either way, I’m disappointed because now I’m leery about ordering from here again. I gave Don Nicos 4 stars tho because I’ve always had a 5 star experience here until now and I don’t want to completely trash the place...
