El Pollo Real — Restaurant in New York

The food is good. Real Spanish taste. Since it's open we have gone there over 20 times.

They only take cash. After the first few weeks the sign that says "CASH ONLY" was moved to cover the total amount displayed. Fishy?

Today going in standing on the side I can clearly see the total. I see it says $23.00 but the older gentleman said $24 which I asked again how much he said $25. I looked confused and asked him the break down the price which he added $2 dollars to price of the tres leche cake which I knew the price for.

Disappointed. The whole cash thing is fine for the beginning of opening a business but hopefully that will change.

It's a great addition to Grand Ave but this action is a huge turn off.

Today ordered pernil and chicken and it tastes amazing (3 stars)

But this sign covering the total and not recovering a receipt is worrisome.

Advise for anyone going: ASK FOR RECEIPT OF BREAKDOWN OF ITEMS OR STAND ON THE SIDE...

I don't really write reviews but I’ve been coming here for 5+ years since my grandmother used to work here But this will be my last visit.. One of the mexican ladies is a sweetheart, brought us our food and cleaned our table but the dominican chick with the orange grenya hair has a really bad attitude while i asked for the check and i asked her if i can get my left overs to-go she yelled at me about the table asking me what number was it…? and yelled “MESA 3” so i looked at her confused and she rolled her eyes and nodded her head and she said “The table” again looking at me like im stupid while shes saying 2 words to me. im hispanic and wouldve told her to speak spanish so its easier for her but i didnt get around to saying that- being cuaght off guard shocked at this point with her body language and her tone. lets just say shes lucky she caught me on a good day! This tasted like old chicken! The chicken pieces were soggy and extremely salty. The driver seemed to have snooped in my bag because the bag was extremely wrinkled where it appeared to have been tied. Seems pretty strange, doesn't it? I'm from Manhattan, and I've noticed delivery here, no matter how much tip they get, they won't show up to your door! So I have to leave my kids unattended EVERY TIME. Why am I tipping again? My bag was wrinkled like it needed anti aging cream! The plastics had a hole in them because the food was obviously very hot, but the driver got lost and was way over his ETA. When I tried the plantains they were cold. It disgusts me and they have to revoke your Dominican card for serving food like that. THIS IS NOT DOMINICAN. I will never order from here again.
