I hate having to write bad reviews. As someone that used to work in the restaurant industry, I know how important it is to have a happy customer. This place however has lost that sense. Backstory: before Quarantine and pandemic. Whenever we wanted something quick, decent and Latin. We would order from them. We normally order the same 2 dishes. Mixed rice (yellow/white) with salad and fried chicken or the steak combo. During Quarantine. We wanted to keep small businesses open. So we would order from them. As well as other places. They've treated us nicely. So we wanted to make sure they stay in businesses. After Quarantine: everything seem to have gone downhill faster than an Olympic skiier. The past few orders they've had messed, and gave us an attitude. One incident they gave us all white rice and no beans. And they gave us diet coke. When we asked for ginger ale. When called they said we clearly said diet coke and argued with us. And said that they don't do mixed rice.. but we've been ordering that for 4 years. And when we told them suddenly it's "extra". When the delivery guy came. He made a snide remark and said "next time order the correct thing". My wife spoke to someone else and they said "sorry she's new and she didn't know and they will speak to the delivery about the comment". The person said they know who we are and gave descriptions of us. To prove she knows us. Fine. OK. We'll let it slide. The most recent incident. We order the same thing from, yet again. This time. They gave all yellow rice and salad with some red sauce (more on that later). We called and let them know that we didn't get salad dressing and the rice was wrong. The girl who answered said they aren't going to send the delivery guy to give us the white rice and as they gave us the green sauce as a courtesy. We told them we didn't ask for green sauce. We asked for oil and vinegar, but they insisted we said salsa verde. Which didn't get either. Again they said they don't do mixed rice. But we've been ordering that for years. Then all of a sudden it was "oh we're busy". So my wife asked for the person's name. She refused to tell us. The cherry on top was when they called back just to say "were you the one who just called. Well, next time have someone else take the order". We don't even know who this person was. If this is how they treat people who supposed during "unprecedented times". Imagine how they treat...
Read moreBetter Options On the Block. 108 street consists of 2 "Mexican" restaurants from which you can get tacos. I consistently eat at the first one which I will not name, but recently have decided to give El Rey Latino a shot. Let me begin with PRICING: The current price they charge per taco I would say is somewhat fair around $5, although they do charge extra for basics on a taco such as lettuce, tomato's, and cheese (I found this to be odd). I personally got the food delivered, and the delivery was quick and the food came hot. Now let me touch upon the FOOD/TASTE: I ordered 2 chicken tacos, and 2 steak tacos. The tacos came in 2 corn tortillas each. The flavor of the meat and tacos themselves was lacking. Prior to eating the food I read a few reviews, one of which mentioned a lack of seasoning and I couldn't agree more. The tacos were bland, and the only flavor I got was from the cheese. The chicken was soft and good, but the steak tasted as if the meat had been sitting in the freezer for a few months prior to being thawed out and cooked (not a great flavor for a $5 taco). Overall I don't think I could ever recommend this place to any of my friends or family, so if you had the option, go somewhere else. Save yourself the money, and the calories. There are better places...
Read moreWe used to be happy and loyal customers. Even recommending them to friends. But they must’ve changed management, bc customer service has gone bad, and prices are higher unnecessarily. Almost half up. My experience: A female worker charged me almost $10 for a $6 order of maduros (small), and I still left her my change as tip. I didn’t think to question her bc I thought I could trust this establishment and bc I remember they had raised prices. And she also made me wait incredibly and unjustifiably long, as if they were making them On the spot. Which they were not. And now when I realized the price she charged me was incorrect and called them about it, they confirmed actual price but they’re claiming to not knowing anything about error and giving the run around to give it back. So apparently now they steal money. They aren’t even apologetic of the error by THEIR staff/worker. The women there are very arrogant. Some more than others. One woman claims he doesn’t understand any Spanish when my neighbor tried to talk to her in Spanish once; when they all clearly the staff all look fresh off the boat. Food flavor has also changed. The seasoning is on top of the food and seems excessive, and not cooked with or within for...
