El Sabor Peruano — Restaurant in New York

When ordering, the person taking the order couldn’t understand what we were saying and passed us off to another employee. We ordered 2 whole rotisserie chickens with white rice, fries and salad. As well as the boiled sliced potato with Peruvian sauce. We were told the chicken would take 45 mins. When my wife and I arrived about 50 minutes later we were told the chickens would take another 15 minutes which turned into closer to a 30 minute wait. My wife prepaid for the order and they had only charged us for 1 order of chicken. They obviously didn’t take our order correctly. When we got home with our order the salads were missing. My boiled potato came with a halved hard boiled egg and lettuce. Neither of which were stated on the menu. You may not see that as an issue, but when I didn’t know it was coming, nor did I want to eat either item. Too make matters worse for me was the potatoes were cold. There was no effort to rectify the issue. The staff became much more friendly when my wife and I started to speak Spanish and Portuguese. I found that very interesting. The food itself was very good. My wife warmed my boiled potato. The chicken had good flavor and was juicy. The prices are high especially considering the service. I would not go out of my way to eat here again. Wouldn’t come here again, horrible experience. We tried to order chicken and other menu options and she claimed there was no chicken left, mind you most of the plates have chicken in it… so we basically didn’t have many options to choose from besides sea food. We don’t mind sea food but we came with more family and not everyone eats sea food. We decided to get whatever she recommended because we came a long way. There wasn’t much options left not sure why they were open still if they didn’t have anything left in the kitchen. There was only one worker working the register and being a waitress all at once. I am extremely disappointed with the service we received for our catering order. We left a down payment in advance and expected our food to be ready when we arrived, as agreed. Instead, we had to wait a full hour for the food to be prepared. This caused a significant delay and inconvenience for our event.

What’s worse is that there was no proper communication or apology for the situation. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, especially for catering services where timeliness is crucial.
