In a rapidly changing Staten Island, where bagel shops come and go and the price of eggs has skyrocketed, Poppy Seed Bagels remains steadfast, doing things the old-school way—and doing them right.

Their egg sandwich is pure, simple perfection. Sure, I could add bacon (and I have), but there’s something about enjoying it in its truest form that makes it special. Light, fluffy, never greasy, and served on a soft Kaiser roll that sticks just slightly to the roof of your mouth—just like classic Wonder Bread. That’s what makes it great.

The service? Fast, courteous, and professional. This sandwich gets me out of bed in the morning and fuels me through the workday. Supporting a business that delivers consistent quality feels good, and Poppy Seed Bagels does exactly that.

I probably shouldn’t indulge as often as I do—my cholesterol would thank me—but it’s hard to resist. I can only hope they expand closer to my neighborhood, but for now, it’s worth the drive. There’s a simple joy in sitting in my car, unwrapping that warm brown bag, and digging in. Trust me—you won’t be able to...

Let me tell you about how great these people are, the food they make and the service!! My wife and I went to NYC for the first time ever for our first anniversary! We ate a ton of pizza! But literally on our way out I said, "wait!! We haven't had any NY bagels yet!!" So we stopped here at Poppy Seed! We ordered a couple fresh bagels, mine with sausage, egg and hot honey (Big Jack) on a jalapeno bagel, (getting hungry again thinking about it) an iced coffee you get to make yourself which is the best! And tater tots! That's what I thought anyways. As it came, it turned out to be a ton of tots! So good! My wife had, bacon, egg, scallion cream cheese and hot honey (Bumble Bee) on a poppy seed bagel! As we waited they handed us 5 or 6 strips of bacon for free because it was taking more than a couple minutes! So nice!! The bagels were both bigger than anything we'd had in Canada and sooooo much fresher! It rendered all other bagels useless to us... Haha haven't had any since actually! Definitely highly recommend. You can see the fresh bagels as...

The bagel was absolutely phenomenal — no doubt about the quality of the food. However, the customer service left a bit to be desired. As a brand new customer visiting from Brooklyn (and someone who came in because of all the great reviews), I was excited to try this place out. I mentioned it was my first time and asked about best sellers or recommendations. Instead of a warm welcome or helpful guidance, I was just handed a menu and given a look that felt a bit indifferent.

When a place is held in such high regard for its food, I think the service should match that same standard. A little more enthusiasm or effort to make guests feel welcome — especially first-timers — would go a long way. That said, the food itself was top-notch and worth the visit.

I'll be coming back but no one seemed excited or happy to serve you. Price is expensive too but you get what you pay form eggs are fresh and portion sizes they don't...

Definitely happy with Poppyseed. I catered breakfast for my crew of 20 for my business. The guys all said “MAN EVERYTHING IS FRESH” I ate here from time to time with my wife and when we got the breakfast sandwiches we were both happy every time. I ordered the breakfast combo which is a hot breakfast with all the works. Eggs, Bacon, sausage patties, home fries, French toast, assorted Bagels, cream cheeses and condiments. Oh and can’t forget the 2 coffee boxes of joes. I received a call later in the day I believe from Andrew (I could be wrong on the name sorry). He was checking up on how the food was and wanted to make sure we enjoyed the food along with the crew. This will be my go to spot for my next catering whether it’s for my business or family. I will Spread the word !!!! Thank you Poppyseed
