The most horrible experience we had in a Cantonese seafood restaurant. The manager is rude. The waiters are not familiar with their menu. The kitchen cannot handle the volume. Skip this one if you are looking for a place to book your banquets or even for a simple family dinner.
We made a reservation for 11 people at 5pm, a week in advance to celebrate the lunar new year. We arrived 30 minutes early. There were no other customers here yet. All the tables were empty. However, the manager who was still busy setting up, would not let us sit down. When it was at 5pm, he finally put us in the last table in front of the door. All the tables were still empty. When we asked to be placed away from the draft, he pushed the table a little bit away from the door but said he needed our table back by 7:30pm!
When we ordered our dishes directly from their menu, the waiter didn’t know they were listed. For example, he didn’t know they offer “Lemongrass with shrimp”. He said he would write it down and see what would happen.
We ordered dungeon crab, scallops, shrimp, lamb, chicken, pork chops, noodles and rice. All the typical Cantonese dishes. The dishes came out one by one except one. At around 6:30pm, we reminded them of the missing dish of “golden and silver egg fried rice”. One waiter said they knew and the kitchen was very busy. At around 7pm, another waiter said the rice was not cooked right and asked whether we wanted to cancel that dish. However, 5 minutes later, he came out with a rice dish (Yeung Chow). We just wanted to make sure this was not meant for a different table. He said he would change the bill for the price difference. It seemed that the chef didn’t know how to cook what we ordered.
By this time, we were too exhausted. We just ate the last dish and paid our bill of $300 in cash, before 7:30pm. After the owner took the money, while we were still sitting, the waiter came pouring tea and water on the Lazy Susan and said they needed the table back. I looked around. There were at least two big round empty tables.
I can understand it is not easy to run a restaurant and they are still learning. They, however, do not seem to care about the customer experience. Not a single word to apologize for all the mix ups. They made us feel like they were doing us a favor.
What an outrageous place! They should not work in the...
Read moreWent here for dim sum with family, don’t come here between 9-10:30am cause all the old folks be hogging the tables (1 person a table waiting for their family to show up.) we were asked if we want to sit in basement, sure. Worse idea ever!! No service downstairs, they give you a piece of paper to fill out to order food and they bring it downstairs, by time they bring it down food is alrdy cold. There’s only two workers working several private rooms full of tables. The workers comes by every like 15 mins. We ordered one round and wanted a second round in case food got cold. Food was cold regardless because they had to gather everyone’s order before bringing it down. The tea was never refilled. Asked for ice water several times and never got them. We just gave up and left after first round of food. Didn’t want to leave a tip since no service was provided. Lastly the guy waiter looked miserable and grumpy as hell like he hated his job. Don’t work if you hate your job and can’t rmbr to bring my water. Never again. There’s plenty of dim sum around 86th st, rather travel further n get some decent...
Read moreCantonese family style dining that's very popular with the neighborhood. During the pandemic, they are open for indoor dining and the tables are all spaced out. There's sanitizer pumps offered at every table and when you walk in at the entrance. Normally pre-pandemic, you'd have to make a reservation just to get a table. Sadly it's not so busy now. I came here for a family sit-down dinner with 6 others. The place was not too noisy and the food was great! Some seafood dishes I wanted were not available so if there's something you want, call ahead to reserve it. They'll try their best to accommodate. Notable dishes: steak and snap peas is a must try. Tender and juicy, very pleased with the portion as well. The steamed flounder was fantastic as well. Waitress properly de-boned it in front of us and gently placed the meat accordingly. She's got skills! Complimentary desserts were given too - fresh seasonal fruit and a goji berry/coconut jelly. Red Bean soup was a plus. My family comes here regularly so we always tip well. And at this time, it's a must to keep the staff and the business open. You...
