Golden Sushi — Restaurant in New York

Came in today to have lunch with a friend. The waitress (short brown-haired lady) sat us down and waited for us to order. Because it was our first time dining in, we had questions about the sushi rolls and especially the sushi box. Every time we tried to clarify what she said, she would say something completely different. She started by using hand signals and then proceeded to explain things in the little English that she knew. I understand that English is not her first language, but she needs to at least have the patience to explain things clearly and with respect. By her attitude and tone of voice, you could tell that she was not having it. At one point, she even rolled her eyes at us while walking away. What kind of a service is that? Such a terrible experience.

Now, besides the bad service, the food was decent. It was more on the pricier side $$$, while getting very small portions for it. You can definitely get better sushi for the price that you pay for.

Take it or leave it, I think the waitress needs to get more training and learn to treat customers...

BEWARE: NEW OWNER, 부적절한 스키다시, LACKLUSTER MANAGEMENT, AND DISRESPECT:

My parents and family have been going for 15 years. My mom is the type of person to give 25% tip and more to people when they do right by her, and we stuck by this establishment for many years out of her positive experiences and loyalty. Today, we learned that the owner switched and they asked for a new policy where they required a tip for a party of 4 people. A waitress who thought herself highly ran out chasing us for five dollars of tip and admonished my mother.

I am severely disappointed and genuinely upset at their behavior and the lack of quality in people AND food with this new owner. I’ve lived here my whole life and don’t do this often from supporting local establishments, but a word to wise Korean Americans who live here: DO NOT GO HERE UNTIL THE OWNER...

Ordered take out for a birthday celebration. $300 portion was sufficient, it fed 6 adults until full! The sashimi and live fish tasted delicious and we definitely enjoyed the great selection of side dishes. (The side dishes may vary because we order here occasionally!)

The Mae-un Tang was .. a hit. Tasted amazing, I'm only day dreaming about it now. I would definitely be thinking about it for a few weeks as it's made the top of my list of cravings. The morning after the birthday, I made ramen with it, it still tasted amazing. I am providing a date of order on this review to give the restaurant the feed back on which mae-un tang tasted so delicious! (As I hear from a peer that the taste varies per order).
