I normally order from Mariachi in Astoria but since they didn't seem to be open today, I decided to try this place and I ordered two grilled chicken tortas/sandwiches. One with everything on it, meaning refried red beans, onions, avocado, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and shredded cheese, the other with just grilled chicken, lettuce and no mayonnaise. I got my order pretty quick and to my surprise they used cubed chicken instead of a cutlet and it looked like it was pan fried. The bread was super greasy, the lettuce looked like it was cooked with the chicken, they used black beans, onions, and a ton on jalapeño peppers and the other sandwich that was supposed to be made with plain grilled chicken was stuffed into a greasy bun. I honestly think their reviews are fake to make people think they are excellent but the tortas/sandwiches were disgusting! This was the first and definitely the last time I order from Homemade Taqueria. They really need to learn how to make a real grilled chicken torta! I can only imagine how their other dishes may be. I do not recommend this restaurant, please don't waste...
Read moreCame here for Saturday lunch and immediately felt unwelcome. The restaurant was empty, and the girl at the register just stared at us from inside while we sat outside—never greeted us or came out. I had to go in just to ask for menus, and even then, she didn’t smile or say a word, just gave a cold, irritated stare like we were bothering her.
She stayed on her phone and ignored us, even though we were the only customers there. Eventually, as we got up to leave, she came out and asked—still with a sour face—if we were ready to order. I told her no, we were leaving because her energy was so negative and uncomfortable, it ruined the entire experience before it even began.
This type of rude, unbothered attitude makes people walk out. In times like these, every customer counts. If you care about good service and a welcoming vibe, this is not the place. Management should take this seriously—I doubt we’re the first to feel this way.
So we ended up going to have lunch next door at “Raffaell’s”...
Read moreFound this spot on Yelp looking for a decent Mexican place to eat at. My friend and I were specifically looking for Burritos. Well we both got burritos and shared a large order of chips and guacamole. My friend got a bottle of coke classic (mexican? with cane sugar) and I got a small horchata.
I got the chicken burrito and it was delicious and well priced. My friend enjoyed his chicken and steak burrito. I prefer this burrito to something at Chipotle, more authentic, simple and thoroughly enjoyable.
The guacamole is on point very flavorful and a good size for the price. The chips are freshly made, I would prefer they were unsalted, or had less salt, especially since the guacamole is so tasty.
The horchata was refreshing especially after the hot salsa/sauce from the salsa bar. Woof my butt burned afterwards, Estoy muy sensitivo - I guess lol. The horchata helped cool my mouth down. It is a bit sweet, but damn tasty.
I would definitely roll back in here when in the...
