I haven't been to this IHOP since the mid 90s/early2000s. Twenty some odd years later it (the restaurant) hasn't changed much, although the area/neighborhood has changed quite a bit since. As most patrons who live near to this location already know that this area is mostly an industrial and commercial area on the border of the Bronx and Pelham Manor, just a stones through away from great shopping at the Pelham Manor Shopping Mall and the gateway to New Rochelle and White Plains, NY.
The restaurant itself is still pretty much the same as I remember it. The building and storefront are mostly the way it was when I used to go there so long ago. Same building design and interior layout, although the booths and tables and fixtures and staff may have changed over the years the level of good service is still the same. (If you don't mind being patient when you come in during their peak busy period as this location is bustling with the lunch crowd from the local warehouses and commercial trades in the neighborhood.
The staff may take some time to get to you for certain things but they will not forget about you.) The weekends are very busy with shoppers, couples and church goers looking to have breakfast and lunch, so be prepared to wait for seating as this is a small restaurant and on the weekends this place gets very crowded with patrons.
I would say to come in after lunch or around dinner time|. The quality of the food served to you is always hot and made fresh before your eyes depending on where you are seated you may observe the cooks making your order.
On COVID and its variants: No mask mandates are being enforced the time, however I advise you to wear a mask while you're waiting to be seated in the customers waiting area near the entrance or greeting area.
The menu is full of many great breakfast, lunch, and dinner choices at reasonable price points. Their daily specials/deals are great and also pretty reasonable.
For those with young toddlers and children there are booster seats available. (Though I'm not sure if they still give out crayons and doodling place mats like they used to do back in the 90s and early 2000s.)
They do take cash, credit, and debit cards. (Not sure if they participate in smartphone "Pay By" apps like Google Pay or Tap 'n' Go bank apps, but you may want to ask the host/hostess before sitting down to order your meals.)
You may also want to wash your hands before leaving of using hand sanitizer before and after eating here or in any restaurant where many people gather and touch all surfaces within a restaurant. Here and anywhere else you decide to dine at.
Lastly: Enjoy your meal here and tip generously as wait and bussing staff work very hard to make your dining experience a good one. Bon...
Read moreToday I went to this IHOP location to have a brunch with my spouse when we got there there was a party of three waiting to be seated before us. The party of three included a mother and two daughters and also a Shih Tzu dog. When the person came to seat the family of three. The first waiter denied them a table due to the fact that the dog was not in a crate or have identification to prove the animal is a service animal, yet they wanted to be seated inside of the restaurant. Then a second server came behind, which was a man, he decided to seat them right behind the kitchen when the server came to me and my spouse to seat us they decided to attempt to seat us behind the family with the dog. I rejected that seating immediately they decided to attempt to seat me on the other side of the restaurant. I told them that it was illegal for the dog to be on the premises without being in a crate if they wanted to sit inside of the restaurant and be served due to the fact of health cold violations. And the fact that they did not have the identification to prove that the dog was a service dog. I definitely NOTIFIED THE MANAGER (who was a woman) that the FINE OF THE DOG BEING IN THE RESTAURANT IS $5000 and yet she did not remove the family from the dinning room area. Yet the manager still refused to remove the family out of the restaurant knowingly that sheâs putting others at risk either from allergies, food, cross, contamination, etc. the first time I got my order from the restaurant the order was completely wrong. They had to send the food back when my spouse got his food his food was completely cold. The second time I got my order there was dog hair covered completely in my eggs When I went to the front of the house to rectify this issue, the family was still sitting in the restaurant, eating with the dog seated at the table, eating off of the utensils that us humans and children have to eat off of they tried to sweep the situation under the rug by having me not pay for the bill, but that wasnât the issue, the issue was the fact that that family is still seating in the restaurant, and there were many children in their establishment under the age of 10. When leaving the restaurant I apologized to the two serves I had and gave them a graceful tip because the restaurant fault of allowing this issue to happen had nothing to do with the value of their service. NO ANIMALS ARE ALLOWED INSIDE OF A SEATING EATING ESTABLISHMENT IF ITS NOT A TRAINED AND AUTHORIZED ANIMAL WITH THE LEGAL DOCUMENTS. i personally made a report to the health department and I also made a report about it through 311. The $5000 fine and audit will be issued to this establishment...
Read moreThis was my first AND LAST time at this iHop location. My biggest critique is that the service is TERRIBLE. Just terrible. Theyâre so horribly slow⌠everyone. Iâd have a little more understanding about slower service and longer wait times if it was really busy, but it wasnât. It was in the middle of the day on a Monday and most tables were empty.
Upon walking in, the host saw us but did not acknowledge us, not even to let us know âHi, welcome, Iâll be right with youâ or something. Nope. We were standing there for a while before actually being spoken to and when we were, it wasnât even by the host that just walked right past us without saying anything. (Oh and not to mention, we were the only ones waiting to be seated). When we finally got seated, they took forever to come take our order, and even longer to bring the food. We were there for an hour before getting the food. When I got my order, I noticed something was missing, and when I mentioned it, the kitchen said âoh we donât have anymore of thatâ ⌠which certainly wouldâve been helpful to know before placing my order.
The food was probably the only good thing about the experience. By the time we got our food, I had to ask for to-go boxes right away. And guess what⌠they actually took a pretty long time to bring the boxes too⌠but brought the bill REALLY quickly. At this point I couldnât imagine how long they wouldâve taken to come back and get my card and process the payment, so I went up to the counter to pay to hurry it up. Even doing that, the host moved SOOOOO slow and was in no way personable; hospitality was really lacking at this iHop.
The last thing Iâll note is that the bathroom had no soap đ¤˘. The restaurant overall was in poor condition and...
