food was not good at all. Shrimp is not fresh you could taste the freezer burn and they looked pale with barely pink coloring definitely frozen and not well seasoned. The bisque was like a peachy pink color and extremely thick far too much cream and no real crab/lobster taste, the seafood noodles looks nothing like the picture they refer to it as there's absolutely no soy or teriyaki or wheat or egg or anything remotely brown or tinted to it its the regular box bought stale pale pasta and its so over cooked its soft and mushy and not properly drained the bottom of plate was saturated with water and had no seasoning to it they add butter and garlic after the fact and that's not fresh either, they throw a lump of a mixture of minced and powdered garlic on top and never toss or blend it. top of dish overly garlicky and bottom plate tasted like pasta fresh out the pot (all water) . The mussels they give you are orange and pale (male and female) these also are frozen not fresh and are tough to texture (severely over cooked) and also just added to the top of dish after the fact even though the top of the dish was saturated in garlic powder the mussels managed to have absolutely no season or flavor to them. Though the shrimp mussels and pasta are 1 meal they are not cooked together they are frozen cooked without thawing and boiled separate from the other Ingredients and never blended. Its like they buy it from bjs store it in the freezer till they see ice crystals on it then cook it That's exactly how it looked and tasted just disgusting, oh yea and they don't have dessert, what restaurant doesnt have dessert?? If you don't care if your entire meal is processed and frozen not fresh(every ingredient), not cooked or seasoned properly, than this is the spot for you. If you enjoy the proper tastes and textures of your meal than don't forget city island is our back yard and several other smaller non franchise restaurants surround us locally with fresh well cooked seasoned and prepared delicious seafoods. It's not like it's cheaper here either smh so why take the cheap lazy way out if they charge the same. Such a waste of money and a cheat day Never again! Attempted to just offer it to a less fortunate neighbor and even he would only take the soup!!!!! Sad but ordered city island through door dash waiting on good food, worth paying for new meal when first one...
Read moreThis is the second time I've been here and I will continue coming here for the foreseeable future.
On this visit I was having a lunch date with my grandmother. We both love seafood.
We were seated right away and got the same waitress I had previously Jennifer. She was phenomenal both times. Knowledgeable and friendly and constantly checked up on us.
On this visit I started out with the 12 Piece Honey BBQ Wings and the Cheese Steak Egg Rolls. I've had the wings before and the do not disappoint. They aren't those baby wings either, they nice and big and crunchy and l not to much sauce on them, just the right amount. This was my first time having a Cheese Steak Egg Roll and it was very tasty. Good amount of meat and cheese (just needed a bit more peppers and onions). My grandmother and I both went with the Du Jour Burger. Reading the description of the burger is very different them seeing the burger lol. The burgers came out and they were huge. When I saw the burger I was wowed. The burger sat on red onions, lettuce, tomatoes, on top of the was the cheeseburger, 3 large shrimp and the du jour sauce. Thus burger was simply phenomenal. What's more is the place is very affordable. On my pervious visit (as you'll see in the pictures after the menu) I had the Crab Meat Fries. I don't know what I was expecting but it wasn't this lol. The fries was loaded with fresh crab meat and du jour sauce. Every fry I picked up had crab meat on it. Also had the Fried Chicken Sliders w/ Sweet Potato Fries. The sliders were a mouth full and the chicken was so crispy and well seasoned (no extra salt needed) My mom had the Fried Shrimp Po'Boy. Now that roll was beautiful to look at 6-7 larger Fried shrimp on a bed a lettuce and topped with the du jour sauce.
As of now I love this restaurant the food and the amazing service from Jennifer will keep me coming...
Read moreThe food was ok. A little too salty for my own personal taste.. but it was still enjoyable. The service was 1 star. The server took our order and disappeared, thankfully I didnt need anything. The wait to pay our bill was eternal. I stood at the front to pay and absolutely nobody was there but 1 other server who seemed not to care at all if we was there waiting or not or if we leave without paying, she simply didnt care. We could EASILY walked out, and I was about to, but I did not because I know better. Then when I asked the careless server if we could pay, she called our server and she came saying “Im not gonna be here all day and not eat” very unprofessional starting from the business itself for not having management and control. The restaurant should also care about their workers having a proper meals and a proper breaks so the server can give a good service and the guest can have a great experience.. Thiis place was the total opposite. It seemed clean from the outside but I went to the restroom, I was afraid to touch anything afterwards. There was no manager I can even talk to.. I mean, today is a monday, how can it possibly a restroom be so dirty on a monday!!!! It was very disgusting 🤮 I dont even want to get into detail.. I think Crab du Jour needs a better management. The food wasn’t bad but I did not enjoy my experience.. the server was on the phone on their shoulders at the bar lol.. I was like 😳😂🤦🏻♀️… she was nice but they need professionalism. I still tipped $10 and thats just because I worked in restaurants before and I would get upset if I gave a great service and still get no tip. You could EASILY get a $50-60 tip from me on a $130 bill, but...
