Insomnia Cookies — Restaurant in New York

We walked in to place a takeout order—just to grab a few cookies to go—but were stopped at the door. One of the staff members, a woman who came from the back, told us we couldn’t even order because we were carrying a takeout bag from the restaurant next door. We explained that we weren’t planning opening our bags there or eat our food there—just wanted to buy some cookies and leave.

She said it was because the food we had wasn’t kosher. While I understand that this is a kosher establishment and they have standards to maintain, it felt excessive to deny us service for simply carrying a bag of outside food, especially since we weren’t going to eat it inside.

It’s a cookie shop on a busy block with lots of other food spots around—how are customers supposed to avoid bringing takeout with them? This policy doesn’t make much sense for a to-go business, and unfortunately, it left a bad impression. I will no longer go to this place as I’m sure others will feel...

As a senior citizen, I have never been treated with such disrespect by a business. I arrived with family, carrying a sealed bag of food from another restaurant- not eating it, not asking to eat it, and there’s no dining area inside anyway. Still, they refused to let us wait inside and made us stand in the pouring rain. The cashiers were not just rude, she was hostile and completely lacking in basic human decency. No concern for our age, the weather, or simple compassion.

They subjected elderly customers like myself to miserable conditions over a pointless, power-tripping policy. And the worst part? The cookies were mediocre at best. Absolutely not worth the abuse or the wait. This place treats people shamefully and should be avoided by anyone who values kindness...

Person behind the counter is extremely rude and disrespectful. No customer service skills whatsoever. I placed an order for 11:30, when I entered the store she said “nothings ready we opened late today”. Told me my cookies wouldn’t be ready for another hour. No apologies, nothing for the inconvenience. Had an attitude kept repeating herself “we opened late just today” with no explanation. I said well then the online orders shouldn’t have been open. Didn’t turn on the lights in the store until 12:15. Was on FaceTime talking to her friend the entire time. Another customer came in she was too busy on FaceTime didn’t attend to the customer. The customer walked out without being helped. When I asked to speak to a manager she said she was the manager....
