My fiancé and I just started to go to John’s deli being it’s just a couple of blocks away from the house.. we were so excited that there is one on Staten Island now however there has been an issue almost every single time we go. This time is the last straw we will not be going back. We originally would buy full sandwiches with stuff on the side. Now today the owner of John’s deli was sitting there insisting that they don’t sell full sandwiches or half sandwiches. First off we always would get full sandwiches no problem now all of a sudden they don’t do that anymore? All my fiancé wanted was a full roast beef sandwich. The owner was refusing to make him a full and didn’t bother to give my fiancé enough gravy or onions on the side as they usually would do. They charged him extra for something he never was charged more for .When we got home the sandwich literally only had 3 pieces of roast beef mostly bread. This is technically the 3rd person I know personally that is not going back. Neither am I so make that 4. My mother was there the other day and had the SAME exact issue. The owner acts very full of himself and constantly has an arrogant attitude whenever we came by the store. Never fails....

I usually visit the one in port Richmond as it’s been there forever and I have to say this spot cannot hold a candle to them. I think the picture speaks for themselves. My beef was over cooked and the tiniest and thinnest amount of fresh mozzarella ever. The “motor oil” was also bland as can be.
I’m rooting for these guys cause it’s closer to my house but if I want a legit roast beef with mozzarella. I’m going to the one in...
Read moreI had driven out to John’s for panelle sandwiches in the past and they were excellent. So today I drove the 20 minutes to get panelle after placing an order over the phone for a dinner party we were attending.
Upon an arrival, I was told they were all of a sudden out of panelle even though I had called two hours prior to place the order for pickup at 5 pm.
I didn’t receive a call back letting me know that they were out and was only told when I got there. 40 minute round trip and a waste of time because we still needed to get something for our dinner party.
All that was needed was the common decency to call and stop me from making an unnecessary trip.
Will never be...
