Cafe Luna — Restaurant in New York

I love this restaurant and have for a while, but today the service was racist and horrible. I went here with my boyfriend tonight and we got a new server, stocky guy in his 20s with black hair it said Nuccio Alessandro on our receipt. He took 20 minutes to come over to give us drinks, then got an attitude when I said we were ready to put in our food order as well. His vibe and attitude were completely off, not like the service I’ve experienced here previously. They didn’t give us bread, I had to ask for it. This man continued to greet and converse with every other table but ours, asking them several times how their meals were. He completely ignored us, not coming over at all until it was time for the check. That took another 20 minutes. At the end I asked to get my food and the bread to go. They tossed the bread in a brown bag—no wrapping, and left out the focaccia bread, the best part. I’m Italian myself and am truly ashamed of the service we got, I believe all because of the color of my boyfriend’s skin. The waiter talked down to him from the beginning and disregarded us to take care of the white costumers. Nowadays it’s so hard to find a good and authentic Italian restaurant. Cafe Luna has exceeded my expectations. I have been to the 2 of their 3 locations and may I say the experience, staff, and food was the best. Last night I went to the Hylan location for my birthday and was lucky to have the owner, Alessandro Nuccio as my server. It was my birthday and just wanted something small, he was so kind and runs the place so well. He also is an exceptional bartender too!! I had the chicken rollatini in a masala sauce, which was one of the specials. The best rollatini I’ve ever had. Of course at the end of dinner the staff sang to me which was so sweet. They brought out their tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing, definitely my favorite one I’ve found. Overall, Cafe Luna has amazing service and excellent food.
